  • Patent number: 5213408
Abstract: A variable focusing flashlight includes a barrel which has a battery source of power contained therein and a tail cap mounted on one end of the barrel and having a compression spring provided thereon for urging the battery source towards the other end of the barrel. A lamp base retains a lamp bulb adjacent the other end of the barrel and includes a stationary receptacle mounted in the other end of the barrel and having an axially extending through bore formed therein. A pair of conductors are mounted in the stationary receptacle such that one of the conductors serves to couple the battery source and a first lamp electrode and the other one of the conductors serves to couple a second lamp electrode and the barrel. A movable receptacle has a plate portion disposed between the stationary receptacle and the battery source and formed with an opening and an upward extension that extends slidably into the through bore of the stationary receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5124894
Abstract: A variable focusing flashlight includes a metal barrel and an insulating support fixed in the barrel by a metal pin. A first clamping member includes a first tubular portion fixed in an inner peripheral flange of the insulating support, and a first radial flange resting on the inner peripheral flange. A bulb has a radial conductive flange resting on the first radial flange and a bottom conductive bead connected to a cell in the barrel. A second clamping member includes a second tubular portion detachably sleeved over the first clamping member and a second radial flange clamping the radial conductive flange against the first radial flange. A compression spring is sleeved around the inner peripheral flange and electrically contacts the pin and the second clamping member. A second insulating tubular member is slidably sleeved around the second clamping member and rests on the compression spring.

  • Patent number: 4967325
Abstract: A flashlight includes a flashlight head assembly, a barrel, and a lamp base. The lamp base is fixed inside the head assembly and is rotatably engaged to the barrel. When the head assembly is rotated relative to the barrel, a flashlight bulb fixed to said lamp base moves axially away from or towards a lens attached to the head assembly, thus varying the focusing distance of the bulb. The barrel serves as a contact between the negative terminal of a battery and a terminal end of the flashlight bulb. A second terminal end of the flashlight bulb is connected to an elastic spring whose base is fixed on a metal post. The rotation of the head assembly relative to the barrel can accordingly compress or expand the elastic spring. The elastic spring can thus urge the metal post to contact the positive terminal of the battery.

  • Patent number: 4940860
Abstract: The present invention relates to a waterproof switching device for a portable electric appliance with a hollow body. The switching device comprises a switching body, a sealing member, a slideable button and a coupling ring, wherein the switching body includes two parts, the profiles of which are complementarily to each other, the switching body having a dimension which is slightly larger than that of the circumferential shell of the cavity of the hollow body of the portable electric appliance. The profile of the switching body is slightly converging in a longitudinal direction relative to an axis thereof. By virtue of forcing the converged end portion into the cavity of the hollow body, the switching body will be tightly snapped therein. A coupling ring may further be interposed between the switching body and the hollow body to strengthen the engagement of the switching body with the hollow body.
