  • Patent number: 4140598
Abstract: The present invention discloses mirror finishing comprising, forming an electrode tool provided with an electrode and abrasive matter, connecting the tool electrode and a workpiece to the cathode and to the anode of a direct current power supply or pulse power supply respectively, supplying an electrolyte to a gap between the electrode tool and the workpiece, sliding while pressing the electrode tool to the surface of the workpiece, and removing the anodic passive films produced on the convexed portions of the surface by electrolysis, by the polishing action of the abrasive matter. In addition, the tool electrolyzes preferentially the convexed portions of the surface to be polished, whereby the electrolytic operation is combined with abrasive polishing by abrasive matter so as to finish the surface to a mirror polished surface.
