Patent number: 6075664Abstract: A write current is set to be an optimum write current. The write current is supplied to a recording head when information is recorded on a recording medium. First margin characteristics are measured which are used for obtaining a lower limit value of the write current to be supplied to the recording head. Second margin characteristics are measured which are used for obtaining an upper limit value of the write current to be supplied to the recording head. As the lower limit value of the write current, a write current value is set for which a margin has a predetermined value in the first margin characteristics. As the upper limit value of the write current, a write current value is set for which a margin has a predetermined value in the second margin characteristics. As the optimum write current, a write current is set which has a middle value between the lower limit value of the write current and the upper limit value of the write current.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1998Date of Patent: June 13, 2000Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventor: Shoichi Shimizu

Patent number: 5886844Abstract: Prior to starting the use of an apparatus, an isolated waveform writing section writes a predetermined isolated waveform into a predetermined region of each track of a disk medium by designating a head number and a track number. The isolated waveform is subsequently read out by an isolated waveform reading section and is quantized by an analog/digital converter. Tap coefficients of a transversal filter are calculated by a tap coefficient calculating section. The tap coefficients calculated by the tap coefficient calculating section are stored in a memory on the basis of the track number and head number used when the isolated waveform is written. Upon reproduction during the use of the apparatus, a tap coefficient setting section reads out the corresponding tap coefficients from the memory on the basis of the track number and head number designated by a seek command and sets to the transversal filter.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1997Date of Patent: March 23, 1999Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventor: Shoichi Shimizu

Patent number: 5767702Abstract: Switched pull down (SPD) ECL circuits have a switching circuit within the pull down portion of the output stage, so that a large portion of the total pull down current is switched to the negative going output node, and so that a small portion of the total pull down current is switched to the positive going output node. The negative going output node has a larger that normal ECL pull down current attached to it. The larger pull down current on the negative going node discharges the output capacitor in a shorter period of time. The shorter discharge time of negative going output results in a shorter fall delay time. Two smaller current sources are connected to each of the two differential ECL outputs to insure that both pull up transistors are forward biased so as to provide an adequate noise margin and insure correct circuit operation. Forward biasing the pull up transistors with a minimum acceptable amount of bias current at the emitters of the output pull up transistors provides proper immunity to noise.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1996Date of Patent: June 16, 1998Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Karl R. Patent number: 5638225Abstract: A magnetic disc apparatus using an electric filter for waveform equalization of a read signal is provided. The optimum parameters are set for every head and the writing and reading operations are executed on the basis of the optimum characteristics. At the start of the use of the apparatus, the control information of the circuit parameters previously recorded on a magnetic recording medium is read out, thereby forming a set value table in which the optimum values of the circuit parameters including at least the electric filter have been stored every magnetic head. After the table was formed, prior to the writing or reading operation, the contents of the set value table corresponding to the designated magnetic head are read out and the circuit parameters of the circuit section including the electric filter are controlled and optimized on the basis of the contents read out.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1993Date of Patent: June 10, 1997Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Takehiko Tsuboi, Toshihiko Matsuda, Shoichi Shimizu, Masako Kaizumi, Hiroyuki Mase

Patent number: 5160858Abstract: Use of independent current-regulating MES FETs prevents the output terminal potential of a current-regulating MES FET from being fluctuated. This results in no change in the output potential of a DCFL circuit that uses the output terminal potential as its intermediate ground potential, thereby eliminating the malfunction of a subsequent circuit connected to the DCFL circuit, even when another DCFL circuit has carried a large amount of current momentarily, for example, and the output terminal potential of a related current-regulating MES FET becomes unstable to supply as much current as needed to compensate for the drawn current.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1991Date of Patent: November 3, 1992Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Shigeru Kataoka, Shoichi Shimizu
