Abstract: A system and method for using subnet relations to determine paging areas, for performing authentication and association, and to activate access network interfaces in wireless communication devices in a heterogeneous access network. Paging areas are generated using subnet relations by determining mobility agent servers within a predetermined number of subnet relations from a last active mobility agent server. Authentication and association are also accomplished using subnet relations. Access network interfaces can also be turned on and off based on subnet relations thereby conserving battery power.

Abstract: Data and/or services associated with a given object are easily searched by using a search system having a global unique object identifier, a metadata store, an input for entering the global unique identifier, a metadata reader for reading a set of metadata including the input global unique identifier from the metadata store, and a metadata search engine for searching for specific metadata by searching for a specific description sentence included in each metadata of the read set of metadata.

Abstract: A service recommendation system and a service recommendation method capable of improving the probability of the estimation of a user task and recommending a service depending on a user task can be provided. The user role obtaining unit 210 of the service recommendation server 100 obtains the role of a user, and the task estimating unit 207 estimates a user task from a task model associated with the obtained user role and stored in the task knowledge DB 103. The service knowledge retrieving unit 208 retrieves a service capable of assisting a user task obtained from the task estimating unit 207.

Abstract: A system and method for monitoring subnet relations in a wireless communication system is disclosed. A wireless communication device is provided and is located in a first subnet. When the wireless communication device executes a handoff to a second subnet, a mobility agent server notifies a virtual operator server of the handoff. As a result of the handoff, a subnet relation is created between the first subnet and the second subnet that is stored and later used to control how the wireless communication device uses power by placing network interface systems that cannot be used in a power-saving mode.

Abstract: A system for dynamically adapting a presentation generated with a scalable application to a display screen of any of a plurality of heterogeneous device platforms is disclosed. The system includes a device platform and a transformation module. The device platform is one of the heterogeneous device platforms and includes a display screen. The device platform is operable to initiate generation of a hierarchical configuration representing a plurality of graphical user interface components. The transformation module is operable to selectively arrange the graphical user interface components on a page as a function of the hierarchical configuration. In the addition, the transformation module is operable to selectively transform the graphical user interface components to maximize the fill of the display screen by the page.

In addition, secure migration of applications between a first personal device and at least one second personal device may be performed as a function of the registry architecture. Further, the ability to securely share a personal device among different users is provided by identification of potential users of the personal device within the registry architecture.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for implementing migration of an application among heterogeneous devices. An application consists of sets of one or more component. The application running on a source device and the hardware configuration of the target device are examined to port the application to the target device by selecting at least one component from each set that fits to run on the target device. The running state of the application that exits on the source device is captured and sent to the target device. The target device loads the ported application and instantiates it, using the captured running state of the application.

Abstract: A method of coordinating the handoff of a mobile carrier between a first access network and a second access network. The method including establishing a contract between a user of a mobile carrier and a hyper operator and attempting a hand off from a first access network that the mobile carrier is currently operating within to a second access network, wherein the attempting includes authenticating at the hyper operator only that the user may have access to the second access network via the contract. Handing off to the second access network if the authenticating is successful.

Abstract: A socket migration architecture for migrating a communication socket among host devices comprises a plurality of migrateable sockets each operating in conjunction with one of a plurality of applications on a plurality of host devices. Each of the applications may utilize a respective migrateable socket to establish peer-to-peer communications with at least one other application. Upon establishment of such communications, the migrateable sockets may form an association link between migrateable sockets operating on different host devices. When a first application and respective first migrateable socket are migrated from a first host device to a second host device, at least one association link established prior to the migration may be used to re-established peer-to-peer communications as part of the migration event.

Abstract: A browser session mobility (BSM) system allows a user to save and restore the runtime state of active sessions of multi-platform network applications established with a browser. A platform specific runtime state of an active session with a browser that includes a current browser state and a current server state may be captured from a platform specific version of a multi-platform network application. The platform specific runtime state may be transformed to a platform independent runtime state and stored. The stored platform independent runtime state may be retrieved and transformed to another platform specific version of the multi-platform network application and instantiated as the same active session.
