  • Patent number: 8211788
Abstract: A method of fabricating a bonding structure having compliant bumps includes first providing a first substrate and a second substrate. The first substrate includes first bonding pads. The second substrate is disposed on one side of the first substrate and includes second bonding pads and compliant bumps disposed thereon. The second bonding pads are opposite to the first bonding pads. Next, a non-conductive adhesive layer and ball-shaped spacers are formed between the first and the second substrates. Finally, the first substrate, the non-conductive adhesive layer, and the second substrate are compressed, such that the compliant bumps on the second bonding pads of the second substrate pass through the non-conductive adhesive layer and are electrically connected to the first bonding pads of the first substrate, respectively. The ball-shaped spacers are distributed in the non-conductive adhesive layer sandwiched between the first and the second substrates for maintaining the gap therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20120154886
Abstract: Electrofluidic and electrowetting display pixels, electrofluidic and electrowetting displays, and methods of operating electrofluidic and electrowetting display pixels. The pixel includes a hydrophobic channel formed between first and second substrates and containing a polar fluid and a non-polar fluid, of which at least one is visible through at least one substrate. An electrode with a dielectric is electrically connected to a voltage source. A Laplace barrier defines a fluid pathway for fluid movement in the channel. The polar fluid moves a first position when the voltage source is biased at a first voltage of less than or equal to a threshold voltage to provide a first display state. The polar fluid moves to a second position when the voltage source is biased with a second voltage, greater than the first voltage, to provide a second display state.

  • Patent number: 8199089
Abstract: A device for tuning an output enable signal and a method thereof are provided. In the method, a first scan signal and a second scan signal are filtered out according to a duty cycle of the output enable signal, so as to provide a first output scan signal and a second output scan signal. The duty cycle of the output enable signal is increased when a voltage level of the second output scan signal is converted from a disable state to an enable state before a voltage level of the first output scan signal is converted from an enable state to a disable state. Thereby, a rewriting problem is avoided.

  • Patent number: 8164187
Abstract: A flip chip device made using LCD-COG (liquid crystal display-chip on glass) technique. The flip chip device comprises a substrate, at least one chip having active area with a plurality of compliant bumps thereon. The compliant bumps are centrally disposed in the center of the chip for electrically connecting the chip and the substrate. An adhesive is daubed on a joint area of the substrate and the chips for jointing the substrate and the chips. By limiting the position of the compliant bumps so that they are centrally disposed on the chips, the thermal warpage of the substrate is reduced.

  • Patent number: 8125478
Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) and a switching voltage controlling circuit thereof are provided. The LCD includes a display panel and a number of gate drivers. The switching voltage controlling circuit includes a current-controlled switch, a transmission line, and a feedback circuit. A first terminal and a second terminal of the current-controlled switch are respectively coupled to a constant voltage and a first terminal of the transmission line. The transmission line is serially coupled to the gate drivers. Each of the gate drivers generates a switching voltage according to a voltage provided by the transmission line and controls pixel units of the display panel. The feedback circuit regulates an amount of a current passing through the current-controlled switch according to a voltage difference between the first terminal and a second terminal of the transmission line. Thereby, color errors occurring between blocks of the display panel can be reduced.
