  • Publication number: 20040232823
Abstract: A cold cathode display device, which has a small thickness and a large display area, in which an anode can be sufficiently distant from an extraction electrode to ensure a breakdown voltage and an electron beam diameter can be made sufficiently smaller than the size of a phosphor, and a method of manufacturing such a cold cathode display device. A focus electrode is added to conventional cold cathode display device. The focus electrode is located such that extraction electrodes and cathodes are interposed between the focus electrode and a back substrate. The focus electrode includes electron passage windows located opposite the cathodes and electron passage windows. • Patent number: 6031345
Abstract: In a color CRT having an in-line electron gun and a self-converging deflection yoke, a first quadrupole electro-magnetic coil is provided on the deflection yoke, and is wider at the screen side than at the neck side, and a second quadrupole electro-magnetic coil which is provided on the deflection yoke and which is wider at the neck side than at the screen side. The main lens of the in-line electron gun may have a cross section of a race-track shape. A deflection electrode provided for deflecting the side beams may be provided in the vicinity of the main lens of the in-line electron gun. A quadrupole electric-field lens may be additionally provided for correcting an astigma of the side beam, provided in the vicinity of the deflection electrode.

  • Patent number: 5757121
Abstract: In an in-line beam type CRT, at least one pair of quadrupole electromagnets and at least one pair of quadrupole electromagnets rotated by 45.degree. about a beam axis are provided around a neck portion of a deflection yoke. Further, electric field lenses for respectively applying quadrupole electric fields to beams are mounted to an electron gun. Thus, the CRT can provide satisfactory spot shapes over the entire surface of a screen thereof and hence achieve high resolution.

  • Patent number: 5457361
Abstract: An ion removing device includes an ion inducing electrode provided in a vacuum container in a deflection portion of an electron accumulating ring along an inner peripheral wall of the vacuum container, an ion removing electrode provided in the vacuum container near each of ports of the defection portion of the electron accumulating ring, and a power source for applying a voltage to both the ion inducing electrode and the ion removing electrodes. An ion removing method includes the steps of inducing ions trapped by a potential generated by an electron beam to ports of a deflection portion of an electron accumulating ring by forming an electric field in a vacuum container in the deflection portion, and removing the ions which have been inducted to the ports of the defection portion.

  • Patent number: 5057766
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting the position of a charged particle in a duct pipe has a plurality of electrodes arranged in the duct pipe. Detection signals obtained in the electrodes are phase-delayed by predetermined amounts and then added to form an integral detection signal. The integral detection signal is input to a circuit which determines waveforms representative of the passage of the charged particle: namely, the D.C. component of the detection signal, fundamental wave component and a phase-shifted fundamental wave component. The position of the charged particle are determined from these components. A part of each electrode is formed of a dielectric member. Each electrode and an associated connector are covered by a double-shield structure with inner and outer shields, the electrode, the connector and the inner shield being electrically insulated from the duct pipe.
