  • Publication number: 20080282043
Abstract: There is provided a storage management system capable of utilizing division management with enhanced flexibility and of enhancing security of the entire system, by providing functions by program products in each division unit of a storage subsystem. The storage management system has a program-product management table stored in a shared memory in the storage subsystem and showing presence or absence of the program products, which provide management functions of respective resources to respective SLPRs. At the time of executing the management functions by the program products in the SLPRs of users in accordance with instructions from the users, the storage management system is referred to and execution of the management function having no program product is restricted.

  • Publication number: 20080228987
Abstract: The present invention uses memory resources effectively and connects each storage device by a plurality of paths in a switchable manner, thus improving reliability and ease of use, by virtualizing external memory resources as internal memory resources. External storage 2 is connected to the main storage 1, and the actual volume 2A is mapped onto the virtual volume 1A. A plurality of paths is connected between the storage 1 and 2. When a failure occurs in a path in use (S3), the path having the next highest priority is selected (S4), and processing is continued using this path (S5).

  • Patent number: 7426517
Abstract: The time (response time) from the issue of a display request for the display of constructional information to the obtaining of predetermined desirable constructional information and the completion of display is long when a terminal device having (a graphical user interface) to manage and control the operation of a storage system by using a storage managing server is used. To reduce response time, the storage managing server receives a first request issued from a storage managing terminal for executing the processing of the storage managing server, and a second request for executing processing including the communication of constructional information of a storage device between the storage device and the storage managing server. The storage managing server starts processing with respect to the second request before the storage managing server transmits a response to the first request to the storage managing terminal.

  • Patent number: 7367050
Abstract: The present invention relates to a storage device for supporting an iSCSI protocol as an interface with host devices, wherein, in realizing an authentication function of access control following the iSCSI protocol, presence and absence of an authentication of the host device connected under the same port can coexist. In the storage device that can be connected to a plurality of host devices, access information from the host devices is received through the iSCSI port, and the host devices are identified based on the access information and refers to an authentication control table memorized in a shared memory and associating an iSCSI name for specifying the host device in the unit of iSCSI port, with authentication information of the host device (necessity of authentication, user ID/password), to determine the necessity of the authentication to the iSCSI port from the host device.
