  • Patent number: 5258625
Abstract: An interband single-electron tunnel transistor utilizes an interband single-electron tunneling phenomenon between a valence band and a conduction band through a p-n junction. The transistor includes the combination of microcapacities as fundamental constituent elements each formed by joining a p-type semiconductor material doped with an impurity in the degree of concentration with which a Fermi level overlaps a valence band and an n-type semiconductor material doped with an impurity in the degree of concentration with which the Fermi level overlaps a conduction band. The microcapacity includes a p-n junction having a junction area with which interband electron tunneling is inhibited due to Coulomb blockade.

  • Patent number: 5217359
Abstract: A compressor includes a communication hole 42 through which lubrication oil in an oil reservoir 5 is supplied to a back pressure chamber 39 at least through an eccentrically driving bearing 15, and a communication bore 45 or gap through which the lubrication oil in the back pressure chamber 39 is fed into compression spaces, and a constricted resistance member 44 for regulating the oil flow rate is provided on the communication hole 42. The passage resistance can be made larger in comparison with the case where resistance is caused in a small space of a sliding portion of a bearing, and an accurate value of the passage resistance can be preset with the oil flow rate being low, thereby preventing flow of the lubrication oil to the compression operating spaces from increasing in quantity. Thus, there is provided a highly reliable scroll compressor which has a high compression efficiency, consumes power constantly, and has no risk of compression of the lubrication oil in the compression operating spaces.

  • Patent number: 5217360
Abstract: A swirling spiral impeller portion 13 is structured such that a pressure between the suction and discharge pressures acts on a part of the rear surface thereof. The compressor includes a means for adjusting and cooling the intermediate pressure which acts on a part of the swirling spiral impeller portion 13 by means of the lubricant oil stored in a lubricant oil reservoir 26 to which the discharge pressure in the sealed container acts. The lubricant oil supplied to the compression portion is provided under any pressure condition, and is always supplied stably. As the lubricant oil is cooled, it does not reduce the efficiency greatly.

  • Patent number: 5215452
Abstract: Bearing lubrication in a scroll compressor can be reliably effected at a sufficient flow rate independently of the flow rate of the lubricating oil supplied to the compression chambers 14 through the provision of a rotary-type displacement oil pump having a pump ring 25 which is adapted to orbit by the movement of the orbiting drive shaft 16. In addition, a lubricating oil sump and an oil intake passage communicating therewith are provided in close vicinity to the compression mechanism 2, thereby making it possible to operate the compressor without involving any backward flow of refrigerant gas in the oil feeding passage over a wide range of operating speed.

  • Patent number: 5213490
Abstract: A scroll-type compressor has a stationary scroll frame 7 on which a discharge muffler 24 is provided so as to form a first discharge space 24a. First and second discharge passages 25, 26 are formed to extend through the stationary scroll frame 7 and a bearing 20 so as to provide communication between the first discharge space 24a and the interior of the hermetic container 1. The second communication hole opens in the interior of the hermetic container 1 through a guide member 29 at a level above the level of a lubricating oil in a lubricant reservoir 31. Since the opening of the second communication hole into the hermetic container is set by the guide member 29 at a level above the oil level in the lubricant reservoir 31, the discharge passage can be formed easily without requiring any special component which defines the passage.

  • Patent number: 5213489
Abstract: In a scroll-type compressor, the revolving motion drive shaft 16, formed on the revolving end plate 12 at the side opposite to the revolving swirl blades 11, is fitted in an eccentric bearing eccentrically disposed inside of the main shaft of the crank shaft 6. The crank shaft 6 is connected to the rotor of the electric motor and is supported at the end portion thereof opposite to the main shaft by an upper bearing of a rolling type. Above the upper bearing, a rise preventing plate 24 for preventing the crank shaft 6 from excessively rising upwards is arranged in a fixed manner. The crank shaft 6 is so shaped as to have a stepped portion where the diameter of the shaft portion mounting the rotor 5 becomes stepwise greater than that of the shaft portion fitted in the upper bearing 21. Between the stepped portion and the inner race of the upper bearing 21 is provided an elastic member 26 which can be wave shaped.

  • Patent number: 5188521
Abstract: A balance weight to equilibrate an inertial force due to reciprocation of an Oldham's ring is mounted so that a vibration due to an unbalanced inertial force of the Oldham's ring is transmitted in a direction perpendicular to or almost perpendicular to a connecting direction between the closed vessel and the accumulator, whereby a vibration resulting from an unbalanced inertial force of the compressor body due to the balance weight to equilibrate the inertial force on account of the reciprocation of the Oldham's ring is increased in a direction perpendicular to or almost perpendicular to the connecting direction between the closed vessel and the accumulator. The vibration, however, is reduced in the connecting direction or in a direction close to the connecting direction. As a result, vibrations of pipes connecting the closed vessel to the accumulator are reduced, and reduction of noise of the overall air conditioning system is attained.

  • Patent number: 5037278
Abstract: The scroll gas compressor of the invention is so constructed that an enclosed container is partitioned by a fixed scroll member into a high pressure chamber and a low pressure chamber for gas-liquid separating intake refrigerant and storing it, the low pressure chamber being disposed at the lower portion and the high pressure chamber at the upper portion of enclosed container, the high pressure chamber disposing therein a drive unit related to a scroll compression mechanism and a lubricating oil sump, and the fixed scroll member serving also as part of the bottom of the lubricating oil sump, thereby providing that is small-sized, wide in an operational speed range, and superior in durability, and that prevents absorption of heat and noise propagation from the low pressure chamber serving as both the gas-liquid separation chamber and the reservoir of fluid, thereby improving the compression efficiency and lowering noise.

  • Patent number: 4728141
Abstract: A cable retractor having a spring loaded reel for winding a cable thereonto. The tension applied to the cable by the cable retractor is made to change as the take out length of the cable changes either by changing the effective radius of the reel or the effective spring constant of a spring member biasing the reel. Such a cable retractor can be advantageously applied to a rear shelf structure which lifts a rear shelf cooperative with the opening action of the tail gate of a three-door or five-door car by attaching the cable retractor to either the tail gate or the rear shelf and the free end of the cable taken out from the cable retractor to the other of the tail gate and the rear shelf. Thus, the rear shelf will not droop due to the increase in the tension of the cable when the tail gate is fully open and the cable retractor will not apply undue resistance to the tail gate in the early phase of opening the tail gate.

  • Patent number: 4707718
Abstract: A read-only memory which features a high operation speed and a high degree of integration. A first layer works as ground lines and word lines, and a second layer works as data lines. The word lines and the data lines are arranged linearly to reduce parasitic capacitance and parasitic resistance, and hence to achieve high-speed operation. The invention is adapted where data of large quantities are to be treated, without effecting the rewriting.
