    Abstract: Novel alkali-resistant cellulases which have an optimum pH at a neutral region and have a high relative activity in an alkaline region are produced by microorganisms belonging to the genus Bacillus and growing in neutral medium.The cellulases suffer little inhibition by means of detergent ingredients such as surface active agents, proteinases and chelating agents. Therefore, they can be conveniently used as one of ingredients for detergent compositions.
