  • Patent number: 6735158
Abstract: A disc capable of reproducing an address signal and a data signal correctly even by using a multilayer optical disc that includes a plurality of recording reproduction surfaces bonded together in a state in which front positions in sectors of the respective recording reproduction surfaces do not match completely, a method and a device are provided. In one embodiment, a relationship between a bonding precision L and a length G of a gap area is determined to be L≦G. In another embodiment, by recording information in a range of a length corresponding to the bonding precision L not only in the data area but also in the gap area, a data recording starting position and a data recording ending position for each sector of the respective recording reproduction surfaces are matched. In yet another embodiment, guard areas are provided in a tip portion and a back end portion of the data area.

  • Patent number: 6396798
Abstract: An optical disc having both rewritable area and read-only area is disclosed. The rewritable area has a single spiral pattern of start track land at a leading edge, and a single spiral pattern of end track land at a trailing edge, whereby portions of the physical address area PID deviated approximately Pa/2 from the track of the rewritable area are being intruded into the start track land and the end track land.

  • Patent number: 6373815
Abstract: In an optical disc, an ID field contains a plurality of address information, and is preliminarily recorded in convex and concave signals, and is composed of two sets offset by about ½ track pitch toward the internal or external track direction adjacent to the guide track, an information recording field is composed of grooves and lands oscillating at a single frequency in the radial direction, and the grooves and lands alternate in every revolution of the guide track. When w bits of information are included in one period of oscillation, an information unrecorded field between the ID field and information recording field is arranged to have a length of w/10 bits or more and/or w bits or less, and therefore, when recording continuous information data such as video data, it is possible to record continuously by generating a clock securely from the oscillating signal, and moreover, the format efficiency is improved, so that a format of a larger capacity is achieved.
