A video recording/reproducing apparatus capable of recording an image into a recording medium and reproducing the image from the recording medium, comprising: a recording means for recording video signals and identifying signals indicating the content of the video signals into a recording medium; a displaying means for reading the identifying signals recorded in the recording medium (93), rearranging the read identifying signals, and displaying the identifying signals in the order of the rearrangement; and a reproducing means for sequentially reproducing the video signals from the recording medium (93) in the order of the rearrangement, in which whether there exists a video signal under recording in the recording medium (93) is checked and at completion of the recording of the video signal, video signals to be reproduced are sequentially reproduced.
