  • Publication number: 20130169207
Abstract: A method and device for protecting a power switching semiconductor inverter from thermal cycling is disclosed. The method compares the actual frequency of the inverter to a low fundamental frequency of the inverter and compares the actual current of the inverter to a continuous current rating of the inverter. A thermal cycling condition is detected if both (a) the actual frequency is lower than the low fundamental frequency and (b) the actual current is higher than the continuous current rating. A thermal cycling fault condition is detected when the inverter has been in the thermal cycling operating condition for a sufficient period of time to cause its present stress factor to exceed a predetermined rated stress factor.

  • Patent number: 8385543
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product for providing confidentiality, integrity and authenticity for a video file is presented. An encryption header is produced for the video file, the video file including a plurality of packets that carry content, the encryption header containing information necessary to successfully decrypt the video file. The encryption header is added to the video file. An encryption key is generated from a master key identified in the encryption header and, using the encryption key, individual packets of the video file that carry content are encrypted. The video file comprises one of the group consisting of pre-recorded streaming video, live streaming video and randomly accessed video.

  • Publication number: 20120111065
Abstract: A method of braking a washing machine from an operational speed to a zero speed is provided (as well as a washing machine incorporating the method) for a washing machine driven by one of a synchronous or asynchronous motor. Upon receipt of a stop signal, collapsing the motor rotating magnetic fields are collapsed for a predefined time period. After the predefined time period, DC braking voltage is applied to the motor stator windings at a controlled ramp-up rate to a fixed amplitude to generate a controlled ramped braking torque on the motor. The braking torque is applied until the motor is stopped.

  • Patent number: 7536282
Abstract: Systems and methods for the design or implementation of statistical filters for use in the spectral shaping of transmissions are disclosed. A desired power spectrum may be mapped to find pole locations that approximate the desired spectrum. These pole locations may then be mapped to the edge or inside of an equilateral polygon lying inside a unit circle, the equilateral polygon having the same number of sides as the order of the statistical filter desired and one vertex mapped to unity, to yield a set of eigenvalues. These eigenvalues may be the eigenvalues of a stochastic matrix the elements of which may be the Markov transition probabilities for use in a statistical filter designed to achieve the desired power spectrum. Use of a statistical filter employing these Markov transition values may be utilized to shape UWB or other signals to achieve the desired power spectrum.
