  • Patent number: 9750047
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system that may help to expedite initiation of a packet-based real-time media session such as a VoIP session. Per the disclosure, the initial uplink grant that a base station provides to a UE in response to an access request may be an extent of uplink resources sufficient to carry just a radio-link-layer connection request. But when a UE is going to initiate a packet-based real-time media session, the UE may send a particular type of access request that is indicative of the plan to initiate a packet-based real-time media session, and responsive to the access request being of that particular type, the base station may then instead provide an initial grant of a greater extent of uplink resources sufficient to carry from the UE not only the radio-link-layer connection request but also a session initiation request (e.g., SIP INVITE) for the packet-based real-time media session.

  • Patent number: 9749907
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system to help manage communication in a network configured to support an inter-network fallback process in which the network passes pre-registration signaling and call-setup signaling between a fallback network and user equipment devices (UEs) served by the network to facilitate transition of UEs from being served over one air interface protocol by the network to being served with calls over a different air interface protocol by the fallback network. When the network detects a threshold extent of failure of the inter-network fallback process with respect to at least one UE served in a first coverage area provided by the network, the network may responsively direct one or more UEs served in the first coverage area to each hand over from the first coverage area to at least one second coverage area provided by the network instead of transitioning to be served by the fallback network.

  • Patent number: 9746932
Abstract: The subject disclosure relates to annotating data based on gestures. Gestures include user interaction with a client device or client software. Gestures are tracked and associated with data. In an aspect, client context associated with a gesture is also tracked. The gestures are then employed to determine a global term to associate with the data. In an aspect, a look-up table comprising a pre-defined relationship between gestures and a global term can be employed. In another aspect, an inference component employ context information in conjunction with the tracked gestures to determine a global term to assign to data. After a global term is determined for data based on a gesture, an annotation file for the data can be created associating the data with the global term.

  • Publication number: 20170232240
Abstract: A shunt including an implantable housing having a proximal end and a distal end. A pressure sensitive valve is contained within the housing at a position between the proximal end and the distal end, and the pressure sensitive valve is capable of controlling a flow of fluid between the fluid inlet port and the fluid outlet port. The shunt further including a sensor assembly fluidly coupled to the pressure sensitive valve, wherein the sensor assembly is mechanically actuated and capable of detecting the flow of fluid through the pressure sensitive valve. A condition of the shunt can be detected by detecting a flow of fluid through the shunt and generating a signal indicative of a period of fluid flow through the implantable shunt based on the detecting. The signal can be output to an external device capable of determining, from the signal, whether the shunt is malfunctioning.

  • Patent number: 9733331
Abstract: Roll-to-roll processes for manufacturing touch sensors on a plastic base film are provided. The touch sensors can be deposited on the base film using various patterning techniques. One or more shorting bars can also be patterned onto the base film to couple together traces, such as drive lines, sense lines, conductive traces, and the like, of the touch sensor to prevent a potential difference from forming between traces due to static buildup during the manufacturing process. After the touch sensor is fully formed on the base film, the touch sensor can be removed from the base film using lithography or a physical cutting process. The removal process can separate the touch sensor from the one or more shorting bars, thereby uncoupling the traces of the touch sensor.

  • Patent number: 9735983
Abstract: A provider edge (PE) device may receive an indication to perform a designated forwarder (DF) election associated with a network segment that includes the PE device, one or more other PE devices, and a client edge (CE) device. The PE device, the one or more other PE devices, and the CE device may be associated with an Ethernet virtual private network (EVPN) that includes a group of EVPN instances (EVIs). The PE device may perform the DF election in order to determine election information associated with the PE device. The election information may include information associated with a particular EVI, of the group of EVIs, for which the PE device is to act as a DF. The PE device may provide the election information to the CE device to cause the CE device to provide traffic, associated with a particular VLAN included in the particular EVI, to the PE device.

  • Patent number: 9735671
Abstract: A bipolar junction transistor (BJT) may be used to generate a supply voltage for operating a controller, such as a lighting controller for a LED-based light bulb. A base of the BJT may receive current generated from the supply voltage to control operation of the BJT. Although the base of the BJT would be at a lower voltage than the emitter, a base drive circuit may be coupled between the emitter and the base of the BJT to increase the voltage. As one example, the base drive circuit may be a charge pump. In another example, the BJT may function as its own charge pump. In yet another example, a positive and a negative base current of the BJT may be independently controlled to regulate an output supply voltage VDD from the BJT.

  • Patent number: 9736729
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for requesting a UE to forgo handover to a congested neighbor. In particular, a wireless communication system may serve the UE over an air interface connection between the UE and the first base station. While serving the UE, the wireless communication system may receive from the UE a handover request requesting a handover of the UE from the first base station to a second base station. In response to receiving from the UE the handover request, the wireless communication system may determine that the second base station is threshold congested, and, responsive to the determining, (i) deny the handover request and (ii) send to the UE a command for the UE to withhold transmission of further requests for handover of the UE from the first base station to the second base station.

  • Patent number: 9733998
Abstract: A computer-implemented method associates a plurality of applications, and includes the step of receiving an application programming interface associated with each of the applications. The computer-implemented method also unifies the received application programming interface associated with each of the applications, and classifies the application programming interface associated with each of the applications into a corresponding category. The computer-implemented method also associates the application programming interface associated with each of the applications based on the classification and a pre-determined set of rules to be followed by a processor. The association is done by cross linking the application programming interface associated with each of the applications.

  • Publication number: 20170230880
Abstract: Upon a determination that a relay backhaul link of a relay node is using excessive resources of a donor access node, wireless devices attached to the relay node are offloaded to other access nodes such as neighbor access nodes or to a different frequency band deployed by the donor access node or its neighbors. A donor access node transmits a congestion indicator to the relay node. The relay node transmits updated measurement parameters to end-user wireless devices connected thereto. An end-user wireless device reports back to the relay node in the event it measures a signal strength that is stronger than the current signal strength. This measurement event triggers a handoff of the end-user wireless device, thereby helping to alleviate the resource utilization of the air-interface of the donor access node.
