  • Patent number: 10115103
Abstract: In a payment-enabled smartphone, a shared cardholder verification method (CVM) applet serves a number of mobile payment cardlets. The shared CVM applet validates CVM information input by a user of the smartphone and in response issues a CVM token. The CVM token is passed to a particular one of the mobile payment cardlets that is selected for a current transaction. The selected mobile payment cardlet submits the CVM token back to the shared CVM applet for verification. Upon verifying the CVM token, the shared CVM applet enables the selected mobile payment cardlet to perform the current transaction.

  • Patent number: 9947006
Abstract: A payment-enabled mobile device receives, during a first tap of the mobile device on a proximity reader component of a point of sale (POS) terminal, first transaction context data for a current transaction, and receives during a second tap of the mobile device on the proximity reader component, second transaction context data for the current transaction. When the mobile device determines that the second tap is for the same transaction as the first tap, and that one of a customer verification method (CVM) status or a user acknowledgment status flag has been set, then it transmits a payment card account number to the POS terminal to consummate the transaction.

  • Publication number: 20180032996
Abstract: A payment-enabled mobile device runs a merchant wallet application. The mobile device engages in a transaction with the merchant at the point of sale. Transaction detail data is transmitted from the wallet application to a transaction authentication server. The transaction detail data includes details of the transaction. A response message from the authentication server is received by the payment-enabled mobile device. Payment credential information is made available to a POS terminal operated by the merchant and/or to a payment processor acting for the merchant.

  • Publication number: 20180018655
Abstract: A design element is displayed on a display screen. The design element is modulated over time to encode data in the design element. The design element is presented by a merchant. A camera component of a mobile device is used to capture images over time of the design element. A payment application in the mobile device analyzes the captured images to obtain the encoded data. The payment application uses the encoded data to establish a communication channel with a merchant device operated by the merchant. As a result of communication over the communication channel, a purchase transaction is implemented, including transmission of payment credentials to the merchant from the payment application.

  • Publication number: 20180012226
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for setting a risk management limit to be applied to authorized purchase transactions for a payment card account. In an embodiment, a payment card issuer sets a risk management limit to be applied to authorized purchase transactions for a payment card account, receives an authorization request for a first purchase transaction, determines that the payment card account is within a threshold amount of the risk management limit, and transmits a warning message to a mobile telephone of the account holder that the risk management limit is imminent. Next, the payment card issuer computer receives a second authorization request for a second purchase transaction, determines that the payment card account now exceeds the risk management limit and that no contact has been received from the account holder, and then suspends the payment card account pending contact from the account holder.

  • Patent number: 9852425
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of authorizing a transaction process, whereby a communication between a payment device and a payment processing network is established. Subsequently a transaction is initialized at the payment device, the input of a first User Identification Metric (UIM) is requested, the input of a second UIM is requested, the first and second UIMs are verified and the transaction process proceeds if both UIMs are verified.

  • Publication number: 20170300916
Abstract: Back-up credentials data is stored for a user. A communication channel is established with a mobile device. A cryptogram is received from the mobile device, such that the cryptogram is relayed by the mobile device from an authentication device that interacted with the mobile device. The authentication device is associated with the user. The cryptogram is verified. In response to the verification of the cryptogram, the stored back-up credentials data is made accessible to the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9792607
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for synchronizing a personal identification number (PIN) value stored in a mobile computing device, with a PIN value stored on a remote server. The remote server receives a request from the mobile computing device to record a PIN value, the request comprising the PIN value. The PIN value is recovered from the received request and stored at the remote server. An instruction set arranged to record the PIN value in a secure hardware element comprised within the mobile computing device is generated and transmitted to the mobile computing device. The instruction set executes on the mobile computing device in order to record the PIN value on the secure hardware element.
