  • Publication number: 20120293186
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the salt concentration of crude oil using a single solvent that allows for improved safety and accuracy. The apparatus can include a pair of electrodes, a solvent storage container, a power source, a temperature sensor, a computer, and a display device. The method includes introducing a volume of the crude oil and a solvent to a mixing zone and mixing them together to form a homogenized mixture. The temperature and conductivity of the homogenized mixture are measured in order to determine the salt concentration of the homogenized mixture, and subsequently, the salt concentration of the crude oil.

  • Publication number: 20120163668
Abstract: A method performed by a mobile terminal may include displaying an image via a display of the mobile device. A first user selection of a portion of the image is received and text in the selected portion of the image is identified. The identified text is displayed via the display. A second user selection of at least a portion of the identified text is received. The portion of the identified text is translated from a first language into a second language that differs from the first language. The translated text, in the second language, is displayed over the image via the display.

  • Patent number: 7702282
Abstract: Interactions with a trigger device and/or body motions, such as motions detected with an accelerometer, may be used to augment user input interaction with a mobile terminal. In one implementation, logic senses when a first trigger device enters close proximity to the mobile terminal. A command for the mobile terminal is then executed based on the trigger device. The trigger device may be, for example, integrated with jewelry or clothing.

  • Publication number: 20100086204
Abstract: An apparatus and method for collecting viewer information associated with a user while the user is acquiring and/or viewing multimedia content. The viewer information is interpreted to determine an emotional characteristic. The emotional characteristic may be stored with the multimedia content. Interpretation of emotional characteristic can provide several gradations of user's preference (e.g., the degree to which the user likes the content of the multimedia). It also can provide a relative degree of importance of the content to the user. Additionally, interpretation of the emotional characteristic can be made in terms of one or more specific emotions (e.g., happiness, sadness, fear, anger, etc.) evoked by the multimedia content. Emotional characteristics of other user may also be stored in the metadata of the multimedia content.

  • Publication number: 20090226101
Abstract: A system for transferring data displayed on a display of a provider device to a requester device. The requester device comprises a camera to capture data displayed on at least part of the display and a transmitter that is arranged to transmit a trigger signal to the provider device to inform the provider device that the camera is capturing, or about to capture data, from at least part of its display. The provider device comprises a cybercode-like pattern generator that is arranged to display a cybercode-like pattern on the display instead of or as well as the originally displayed data while the camera is capturing data from at least part of the display, whereby the camera will thereby capture at least part of the cybercode-like pattern instead of or as well as at least part of the originally displayed data.

  • Patent number: 7535484
Abstract: A communication terminal includes a communication module, a camera device, a display device, and a controller. The communication module receives a display characteristic command and an input video data stream from a remotely located other communication terminal and sends an output video data stream thereto. The camera device generates an initial video data stream based on incident light. The display device displays a received input video data stream from the remote communication terminal. The controller generates the output video data stream based on the initial video data stream and a received display characteristic command from the remote communication terminal.

  • Publication number: 20090005123
Abstract: A method of operating an electronic device includes displaying a search field in a menu screen including a plurality of icons representing respective application programs. Selection of at least one of the plurality of icons is visually indicated responsive to navigation of the menu screen. A search scope is limited to at least one database associated with at least one application program represented by the selected at least one of the plurality of icons. The at least one database is searched using the limited search scope responsive to entry of a search string including one or more alphanumeric characters in the search field. If found in the at least one database, at least one search result including the search string is displayed. Related devices and computer program products are also discussed.

  • Publication number: 20080064373
Abstract: In a method for transferring a message containing audio and/or voice information from a transmitting communication terminal (20) to a receiving communication terminal (30), said message is depending on a setting of said receiving communication terminal (30) either directly played back at said receiving communication terminal (30) or temporarily stored and played back at a later time point. The user of the receiving communication terminal (30) is thus free to decide whether the communication is direct or asynchronous.

  • Publication number: 20070239981
Abstract: The invention relates to an electronic device (10) and a method for data communication with such an electronic device. The electronic device combines, on the one hand, a Near Field Communication (NFC) interface, including an antenna and a circuit for generating a modulated electromagnetic wave, and on the other hand a user interface including a touch-sensitive display configured to present an object relating to a communication action executable by means of the NFC interface. A control unit connected to the NFC interface and the user interface, is configured to trigger the NFC interface to execute the communication action responsive to simultaneous detection of the presented object being touched and the NFC interface being in communicative connection with a second NFC interface of a second device.

  • Publication number: 20070218837
Abstract: The invention relates to an electronic device (10) and a method for handling data communication with such an electronic device. The electronic device combines, on the one hand, a data carrier interface including a slot (13) for receiving a data carrier, and on the other hand a Near Field Communication (NFC) interface including an RF antenna (15) connected to a circuit (16) for acquiring data modulated in an electromagnetic wave. The antenna (15) is positioned adjacent to the data carrier slot (13), such that the NFC interface is operable to acquire data stored on an NFC tag (33, 34) positioned in the slot. A data carrier (30) for use with the electronic device may take the shape and size of a standard carrier usable with the data carrier interfaced, such as a Memory Stick, while in fact lacking a data memory accessible by the data carrier interface. Instead, the NFC interface is configured to acquire data from the much simpler and cheaper NFC tag attached to the data carrier.
