  • Publication number: 20050135431
Abstract: A method and system for tone detection is described. The method includes receiving a series of frames having a signal containing a tone and locating a first frame in the series of frames in which there is at least a partial tone. The signal energy of the first frame in which there is at least a partial tone may then be compared to the signal energy of a full tone frame or compared to the signal energy of a frame subsequent to the first frame in the series of frames. A start time of the tone in the signal may then be determined based on the comparison of the signal energies of the first frame and the full tone frame or subsequent frame. An end time of the tone in the signal may be determined by locating a last frame in the series of frames in which there is at least a partial tone and comparing the signal energy of the last frame in which there is at least a partial tone to the signal energy of a full tone frame or the signal energy of a frame preceding the last frame in the series of frames.

  • Publication number: 20050058120
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method includes detecting a tone in each data frame of a sequence of telephony signal data frames. A first data frame of the sequence of telephony signal data frames may be transmitted immediately after detecting the tone therein. Transmission of a last one or last ones of the sequence of telephony signal data frames may be deferred. It may then be determined whether the tone is present in a next data frame that immediately follows the sequence of telephony signal data frames. If it is determined that the tone is not present in the next data frame, the last one or ones of the sequence of data frames and the next data frame may be transmitted. If it is determined that the tone is present in the next data frame, a respective replacement data frame may be transmitted in place of each one of the last one or last ones of the sequence of data frames and in place of the next data frame.

  • Publication number: 20050058273
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method includes storing a telephony signal data frame in a buffer, detecting a characteristic of a subsequent telephony signal data frame, and determining wheather to analyze the stored telephony signal data frame based at least in part on a result of the detecting of the characteristic of the subsequent telephony signal data frame.

  • Patent number: 6509904
Abstract: A method and device for increasing the horizontal resolution of both a color flat panel display and a cathode ray tube (CRT) display. The method involves fine horizontal positioning of pixels according to information encoded in the color. Since pixel size is not changed, the display and processing bandwidth requirement is not increased. For the case of the color flat panel display, the fact that each pixel is constructed of a horizontal stripe of 3 primary color sub-pixels is utilized. Complex color information is spread across adjacent pixels to increase the apparent horizontal resolution by a factor of three. For the case of the CRT, a clock multiplier is used to multiply the video clock frequency by three. The apparent horizontal resolution of the CRT is increased by a factor of three by delaying pixels a varying multiple of this high clock speed.

  • Patent number: 5953018
Abstract: An apparatus and post-processing method for reversibly converting an existing electrocardiograph (ECG) erase bar waveform display to a scrolling waveform display. This conversion is accomplished by swapping the positions of the portions of the waveform that are displayed to the right and left of the erase bar in an erase bar waveform display each time a new heartbeat data point is displayed. The swapping function is accomplished by delaying the display of the data points to the right of the erase bar by a time period x and by delaying the display of data points to the left of the erase by x plus the amount of time required to scan an entire row. x is the amount of time required to scan all of the data points displayed to the right of the erase bar on the erase bar waveform display.
