  • Patent number: 11885703
Abstract: The systems and methods described herein are for monitoring the tightness of bolts. The systems and methods may be used with a mechanism to apply a percussive tap and with a recording or monitoring device for detecting and recording the acoustic signals that are generated by the percussive tap. The acoustic signals generated by percussive taps applied to bolts in various looseness states are analyzed and a machine learning model is developed that allows for determining bolt looseness based on the acoustic signals.

  • Publication number: 20240030564
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a battery cell having electrode foils protruding from a cell pouch includes positioning the cell pouch in a fixture such that distal end sections of the foils extend outward from the fixture. The method includes clamping the distal end sections in a curvilinear guide clamp to cause the distal end sections to taper into an electrode foil stack, and then translating the clamp a predetermined distance toward the fixture to displace the distal end sections by the predetermined distance. The method also includes trimming the distal end sections using a trim tool, positioning a sonotrode and an anvil adjacent opposite surfaces of the stack, and ultrasonically welding the stack to a conductive lead tab using the sonotrode to thereby form a welded joint within the battery cell. The sonotrode may be multi-sided with different knurl patterns for performing different welding processes.

  • Publication number: 20240021950
Abstract: A battery module and an intermediate module for use together in a stack of modules permit flexible electrical configurations of the stack. The battery module has multiple electrically conductive paths extending between its top and bottom sides; one of the paths is connected in series with the module's cells, while at least one of the other paths acts as a pass-through that allows power or communications to pass through the module. The intermediate module also contains pass-through electrical paths that route power or communications from one battery module on one of the top and bottom sides of the intermediate module to the pass-through path of the battery module on the other of the top and bottoms ides of the intermediate module. This allows the modules in a stack to be electrically connected together in different series-connected groups.

  • Publication number: 20230418581
Abstract: Using a common reference address when processing calls between a native application binary interface (ABI) and a foreign ABI. Based on a caller calling using a reference address, a lookup structure is used to determine whether the reference address is within a memory range storing native code and that the callee is native, or a memory range not storing native code and that the callee is foreign. Execution of a callee is initiated based on one of (i) calling the callee using the reference address within an emulator when the caller is native and the callee is foreign; (ii) calling an entry thunk when the caller is foreign and the callee is native; (iii) calling an exit thunk when the caller is native and the callee is foreign; or (iv) directly calling the callee using the reference address when the caller is native and the callee is native.
