  • Publication number: 20170339619
Abstract: Methods and corresponding apparatuses for LTE's WLAN mobility set prioritization are discussed. The method includes detecting an integrated WLAN and a legacy WLAN, measuring the connection quality of the integrated WLAN and/or the connection quality of the legacy WLAN, and determining whether to select the legacy WLAN over the integrated WLAN based on the measurement results. The method further includes detecting a WWAN using both licensed and unlicensed spectrum, and refraining from connecting to the legacy WLAN in response to the detecting.

  • Patent number: 9801030
Abstract: Resource and power savings in internal data transfer in enhanced multimedia broadcast-multicast service (eMBMS) is disclosed herein which may include receiving, by a modem processor of a mobile device, data packets of a data object from a broadcast-multicast service. The modem processor may buffer the received data packets without forwarding the buffered data packets to an application processor associated with the modem processor. The modem processor may also determine an end of a segment of the data object. The segment may indicate a period during which the data object is scheduled to be received by the modem processor. The modem processor may forward, in a single data burst, the buffered data packets to the application processor before the end of the segment.

  • Publication number: 20170295513
Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods for managing access to receive chains of a multi-subscription multi-standby (MSMS) communication device. A device processor may determine a receive mode of the MSMS communication device. In response to determining that the receive mode is a diversity sharing mode, the device processor may determine a first subscription schedule and a second subscription schedule. The device processor may that there is an upcoming overlap between the first subscription schedule and the second subscription schedule, and in response the device processor may prevent the second subscription from using the second receive chain.

  • Patent number: 9787430
Abstract: Dynamic forward error correction (FEC) setting is discussed in which the network determines a FEC percentage for each video segment of a video streaming service, based on consideration of the transfer length of the video segment and the allocated bandwidth. When the transfer length and allocated bandwidth reflect transmission of less than peak bandwidth, the network will determine a higher FEC percentage that uses the otherwise wasted bandwidth to transmit additional redundancy symbols. The additional redundancy symbols increase the error recovery rate when collisions occur between streaming video reception and page monitoring occasions of other networks in multi-network, multi-subscriber identification module (SIM) mobile devices. A network entity may then transmit the dynamic FEC percentage for each video segment in the file description table (FDT) associated with the video streaming service.

  • Patent number: 9781649
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication enable user equipment operating in a current cell that provides a multimedia broadcast/multicast service to distinguish between neighboring cells that have different operational characteristics. The presence of a neighboring cell is identified while the user equipment is operating in a first cell and it is determined whether the neighboring cell provides services different from the services provided in the current cell, based on information maintained by the user equipment. The user equipment may move to the neighboring cell to obtain better or different service.

  • Publication number: 20170265239
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may prevent rejected attachment requests when connecting to a trusted wireless local area network (WLAN) and from a wireless wide area network (WWAN). For example, an attachment packet data network (PDN) connection may be maintained with the WWAN while connected to the trusted WLAN. In some cases, the connection used to maintain the attachment may be an internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) connection. Alternatively, the UE may determine that the WLAN connection is a trusted connection and deactivate the WWAN connection. Should the WLAN become unavailable the UE may reactivate the connection with the WWAN.

  • Patent number: 9755783
Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE determines a failure to receive an MSI for a first MSP. The UE attempts to decode one or more subframes in the first MSP. The UE detects an occurrence of an MSP abort decoding event. The UE determines that the first MSP does not include any subframe that carries MBMS data of an MBMS segment based on the detection of the MSP abort decoding events. The UE aborts the attempt to decode the one or more subframes.

  • Patent number: 9693337
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a request to receive a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) service associated with a service area identity (SAI) and a second frequency. The apparatus performs inter-frequency cell reselection from a first cell transmitting at a first frequency to a second cell transmitting at the second frequency, the second cell being an inter-frequency neighbor cell to the first cell. The apparatus receives system information from the second cell. The apparatus determines that the second cell transmitting at the second frequency is unassociated with the SAI based on the received system information. The apparatus blacklists the SAI on the second frequency in a blacklist for at least a period of time upon determining that the second cell is unassociated with the SAI.

  • Publication number: 20170180951
Abstract: A method for selectively prioritizing eMBMS includes: determining a collision metric associated with at least one of a plurality of eMBMS data streams on the first subscription; identifying a first eMBMS data stream of the plurality of eMBMS data streams having a highest collision metric amongst the plurality of eMBMS data streams on the first subscription; assigning the first eMBMS data stream with a higher QoS priority than a QoS priority assigned to paging occasions on the second subscription; and in response to detecting that an upcoming paging occasion on the second subscription coincides with an upcoming eMBMS data burst associated with the first eMBMS data stream on the first subscription, utilizing the RF chain to receive the eMBMS data burst on the first subscription based on the first eMBMS data stream on the first subscription having a higher QoS priority than the paging occasions on the second subscription.

  • Patent number: 9654963
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to providing dynamic assignment of home agent and home address in wireless communications, such that a mobile node away from home may receive local access services from a visited network. In an embodiment, a mobile node accesses a visited network. The visited network authenticates the mobile node with its home network. The visited network then assigns a visited home agent and a home address for the mobile node. The mobile node subsequently performs secure binding with the visitor home agent. The mobile node proceeds with communications using the visitor home agent and home address.

  • Publication number: 20170127329
Abstract: Various embodiments include a device processor that may monitor a data loss from a broadcast data stream received by a radio frequency (RF) resource of a multi-subscription multi-standby (MSMS) communication device using a first subscription. In response to determining that an amount of the monitored data loss plus an amount of expected data loss from anticipated tune-aways to a second subscription and a third subscription does not meet a first data loss threshold, the device processor may determine whether an amount of the monitored data loss plus an amount of expected data loss from an anticipated tune-away to a third subscription meets a second data loss threshold. The device processor may prevent the tune-away to the third subscription in response to determining that the amount of the monitored data loss plus the expected data loss from the anticipated tune-away to the third subscription meets the second data loss threshold.

  • Patent number: 9641986
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE receives MBMS in an MBMS session from a base station. The UE determines a data receipt metric associated with data received during the MBMS subframes in the MBMS session. A portion of the MBMS subframes coincides with a measurement gap configured for inter-frequency or inter-RAT measurement. The UE determines whether the data receipt metric is in a first relationship with a first threshold. When the data receipt metric is in the first relationship with the first threshold, the UE refrains from receiving the data during at least the portion of the MBMS subframes that coincides with the measurement gap and performs the inter-frequency or inter-RAT measurement during the measurement gap when the data receipt metric is in the first relationship with the first threshold.
