  • Publication number: 20160205663
Abstract: Embodiments include methods implemented by a processor of a mobile communication device for managing tune-aways by a radio frequency resource supporting a first subscription to support a second subscription. The processor may determine a data loss ratio of the data of a media file that is lost in transmission to the mobile communication device. The processor may compare the data loss ratio of the data to a first data loss ratio threshold and a second data loss ratio threshold, and the processor may block a tune-away event of the radio frequency resource from the first subscription to the second subscription in response to determining that the data loss ratio of the data is greater than the first data loss ratio threshold and less than the second data loss ratio threshold.

  • Publication number: 20160192403
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for communication in a network. The apparatus sends a multicast message to a network device. The multicast message facilitates discovery of an unknown IP address of the network device. The apparatus determines whether a first response message is received from the network device in response to the multicast message and determines the IP address of the network device from the first response message when the first response message is received from the network device. The apparatus establishes a secure connection with the network device using the determined IP address. The apparatus sends a link status check message to the network device to detect a failed end-to-end link between the apparatus and the network device.

  • Publication number: 20150245266
Abstract: Various aspects directed towards expediting an inter-RAT (radio access technology) reselection are disclosed. A user equipment (UE) operates according to a first RAT and utilizes an evolved multimedia broadcast multicast service (eMBMS) via the first RAT. A second RAT, which is unable to support eMBMS, is selected such that operation of the UE transitions from the first RAT to the second RAT. A reselection of the first RAT is then expedited by modifying at least one of a dormancy timer value initialization, a reselection timer value initialization, or a frequency priority.

  • Patent number: 9032065
Abstract: A communication session between a node seeking network access and a NAS (Network Access Server) is established by having only few exchanges of messages. Upon detecting a physical link between the node and the NAS, the NAS immediately sends an authentication request message to the node. In response, the node sends a request message which includes all parameters options, in addition to responding to the authentication request message, for link configuration and network access control. The NAS then picks and chooses the parameter options and sends back the selected options in a reply message to the node. If the selected options in the reply message meet a threshold, the node straightforwardly transmits user data for network access via the NAS.

  • Patent number: 9001737
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a user service description (USD) message. When a frequency indicated in the USD message is not a current frequency, the apparatus determines that a system information message is received, determines that the frequency indicated in the USD message is included in the system information message, determines that the frequency is a neighboring cell frequency, sets a priority of the frequency to a highest priority, and measures a signal strength of the frequency when the frequency is included in the system information message, performs a cell reselection determination procedure based on the signal strength of the frequency, performs cell reselection to the neighboring cell based on a result of the cell reselection determination procedure, and acquires the multicast service in the neighboring cell on the frequency.
