  • Publication number: 20170228547
Abstract: This disclosure relates to generating shares of secret data represented by secret data elements based on a first threshold for the number of shares that allow determining the secret data. The shares are determined based on the secret data, one or more random data elements added to the secret data and coefficients of a systematic maximum distance separable (MDS) code. The MDS code has a number of input data elements that is equal to the first threshold and that is also equal to the number of secret data elements plus the number of the one or more random data elements. The method of determining shares can be used for different data sets and multiple pairs of the shares can be generated to allow performing an operation between the first secret data with the second secret data based on distributed processing of each of the multiple pairs.

  • Publication number: 20170228804
Abstract: Methods select content to be delivered to a visitor to a real-world venue. One method identifies a visitor to a real-world venue based on tracked physical actions and a profile including previously collected visitor information associated with the venue. The method determines that members of a group are present at the venue with the visitor, where the determining is based at least in part on the previously collected visitor information. Based on determining that the visitor is at the venue with members of the group, content is selected for the visitor. Another method identifies a visitor to a venue as belonging to a group by identifying the visitor based on tracked physical actions and collected visitor information. The tracked actions and visitor information are used to determine whether the visitor is in the venue with members of the group. Tailored content is sent to the visitor based on the determination.

  • Publication number: 20170230140
Abstract: An optical module processes first FEC (Forward Error Correction) encoded data produced by a first FEC encoder. The optical module has a second FEC encoder for further coding a subset of the first FEC encoded data to produce second FEC encoded data. The optical module also has an optical modulator for modulating, based on a combination of the second FEC encoded data and a remaining portion of the first FEC encoded data that is not further coded, an optical signal for transmission over an optical channel. The second FEC encoder is an encoder for an FEC code that has a bit-level trellis representation with a number of states in any section of the bit-level trellis representation being less than or equal to 64 states. In this manner, the second FEC encoder has relatively low complexity (e.g. relatively low transistor count) that can reduce power consumption for the optical module.

  • Publication number: 20170227581
Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to test and measurement instruments structured to detect that a series of events occurred, and structured to generate a trigger signal in response to detecting that a final event in the series of events occurred. The trigger may be generated based on a timeout signal, or based on another event, trigger, or signal. Stored data in the acquisition memory may be marked relative to the detection of the final event. An external forced timeout signal may control which in a series of events is marked as a final event. The triggering on final event may be enabled after another trigger is satisfied, and may be used as one of many different types of triggers.

  • Publication number: 20170227588
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to fiber optic pulsed polarimeters based on either streak camera or photodiode detection using a backscatter tailored optical fiber and the polarization optical time domain reflectometry technique for conducting remote diagnostic measurements of inducing fields along the fiber. The backscatter tailored optical fiber comprises a single mode fiber with an array of fiber Bragg gratings written to produce a predetermined distribution of backscatter signal in intensity and spectral content in response to a pulse propagating along the array. The fiber optic pulsed polarimeter includes a directional coupler that diverts the backscatter from the backscatter-tailored optical fiber to a polarization detection system for determining the polarization state of the backscatter as the polarized light pulse transits the backscatter-tailored optical fiber.
