Abstract: Provided herein are methods and systems relating to location-based services such as providing a geofencing, outputting location-based information on a mobile device, varying transmissions to and from a mobile device, and providing location-based alerts. More specifically, a method can include receiving a task on a mobile device, associating the task with a location, generating a geofence around the location associated with the task, tracking a current location of a the mobile device, and generating an alert associated with the task when the current location is within the geofence.

Abstract: A device for establishing an environment of a required fluid inside a length of pipe, comprising two pipe-engaging members adapted to engage the interior surface of the pipe at respective positions spaced therealong, and means for introducing said fluid into the interior of the pipe between said engaging members, each pipe-engaging member comprising a casing for contacting the pipe interior surface and containing an inflatable element; wherein the casing of each engaging member includes at least a portion of stretchable material for enabling expansion and contraction of the casing in a direction radially of the pipe, for engaging a range of internal pipe sizes.

Abstract: Mechanisms for controlling rollover or reset of hardware performance counters in the data processing system. A signal indicating that a rollover or reset of a first hardware performance counter has occurred is received and it is determined if the first hardware performance counter is analytically related to one or more second hardware performance counters based on defined ganged hardware performance counter sets. A signal is sent to each of the one or more second hardware performance counters in response to a determination that the first hardware performance counter is analytically related to the one or more second hardware performance counters. Each of the one or more second hardware performance counters is reset to an initial value in response to the one or more second hardware performance counters receiving the signal from the ganged hardware performance counter rollover/reset logic.

Abstract: A spherical plain bearing and method of assembling the same is disclosed. The bearing has an outer ring having a bore, a concave surface, and at least one fracture. The bearing further includes an inner ring having a convex surface. The convex surface is in sliding disposition with the concave surface when the inner ring is disposed in the bore. The bearing has a groove in a face of the outer ring radially outside a first opening of the bore. The bearing further includes a band coupled to a portion of the outer ring defining the groove. The band retains the outer ring around the inner ring when the inner ring is disposed in the bore.

Abstract: A composition for providing enhanced skin appearance, particularly in terms of providing the appearance of reduced dryness and flakiness for an extended period of time, is disclosed. The compositions include low levels of skin coloring agents, including self-tanning compounds, such as DHA and/or erythrulose, in a topical cosmetic base. The levels of self-tanning compounds utilized are lower than those typically found in self-tanning compositions. A method for enhancing skin appearance utilizing those compositions is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of tuning a signal received from a first network terminal at a second network terminal is disclosed. The method may include receiving the signal at the second network terminal. The signal may be operating at a first wavelength. The method may also include determining a port used to receive the signal at the second network terminal, and identifying a predetermined port wavelength used as a basis to shift the first wavelength to the predetermined port wavelength for subsequent signals received. The method may also include transmitting the predetermined port wavelength information to the first network terminal to inform the first network terminal to tune subsequent signals to the desired wavelength for the port.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods disclosed herein operate to compensate for skew between inverse phases (e.g., differential phases) of an analog signal appearing at the inputs of an analog signal capture circuit such as a track-and-hold or sample-and-hold circuit associated with an ADC or similar device. Each of two capture clocks is used to capture one of the inverse phases. One or more delay circuits are configured to create a differential delay between clock transitions associated with the two capture clocks. The differential delay is proportional to the input skew between the inverse phases. The phases are consequently sampled at substantially identical points on a phase domain axis. Embodiments operate to create phase sampling synchronicity and to thereby decrease the amplitude of a common-mode signal component that results from the skew. Increased linearity and decreased distortion may result.

Abstract: Systems and methods for remotely controlling a rail vehicle are provided. In one embodiment, a remote operator control system includes a communication link to send and receive rail vehicle information, an operator interface, and a controller. The controller is configured to send, through the communication link, a request to establish communication with a positive train control system on-board a selected rail vehicle based on an operating condition. In response to receiving confirmation of communication with the positive train control system, the control is configured to receive positive train control information for the selected rail vehicle through the communication link, and display the positive train control information for the selected rail vehicle on the operator interface.

Abstract: A turbofan engine includes a fan driven by a low pressure turbine through a gear reduction. The gear reduction has a gear ratio of greater than or equal to about 2.4. The low pressure turbine has an expansion ratio greater than or equal to about 5. The fan has a bypass ratio greater than or equal to about 8. In other features, a turbofan engine includes a variable geometry fan exit guide vane (FEGV) system having a multiple of circumferentially spaced radially extending fan exit guide vanes. Rotation of the fan exit guide vanes between a nominal position and a rotated position selectively changes a fan bypass flow path to permit efficient operation at various flight conditions.

Abstract: A light-emitting devices and methods for forming light-emitting devices are provided. The device comprises of a substrate having a first refractive index, a transparent electrode that is coupled to an organic layer, where the transparent electrode has a second refractive index different from the first refractive index. An undercoat layer is selected that has a third refractive index to substantially match the first refractive index to the second refractive index. The undercoat layer is selected such that it has a capacity to reduce root mean square roughness of the transparent electrode film deposited. The undercoat layer is selected to improve electrical properties of the transparent electrode layer. The undercoat layer is provided between the substrate and the transparent electrode.

Abstract: A permanent magnet electric motor has a stator and a rotor. The stator includes a stator housing having opposed axial ends and magnets affixed to an inner surface of the stator housing, and overmold material overmolded around the plurality of magnets to securely hold the plurality of magnets to the inner surface of the stator housing. The thickness of the overmold material, as measured from the inner surface of the stator housing to an inner surface of the overmold material, is greater at edges of the magnets than at a center of the magnet.

Abstract: This application teaches practical and cost effective methods and apparatus to enhance supply chain efficiency by transforming fluid enclosing supply delivery containers in to collection and disposal containers, and in particular, providing inter alia, a canister system having a lid which would couple to either a thread able supply container or a spike able supply container. This enables the user to select from a plurality of supply containers for the collection and removal of waste such as a threaded pour bottle type of supply container, or a spike able type of intravenous solution supply container.

Abstract: A data communication system for a rail vehicle consist includes a data reading device and a processing module. The data reading device is disposed on the consist and is configured to interrogate and read data from a tangible and non-transitory medium that is spaced apart from the data reading device. The processing module is disposed on the rail vehicle consist and is communicatively coupled with the data reading device. The processing module receives the data from the data reading device and uses the data in connection with one or more operations of the rail vehicle consist. A method for communicating data with a rail vehicle consist includes interrogating and reading data from a tangible and non-transitory medium using an electronic reading device while the medium is spaced apart from the reading device and using the data in connection with one or more operations of the rail vehicle consist based on the data.
