  • Patent number: 8634539
Abstract: An application that resides on a subscriber PC with a constantly updated back-end knowledge base provides solutions to specific problems. The resident application, termed Computer Health and Performance Check (“CHPC”), performs preventative maintenance tasks on the subscriber's PC, such as checking for adware/spyware, viruses, determining whether the disk needs to be defragmented, and the like. In its various embodiments, the system includes a client-side resident PC diagnostic and health performance check tool that is used in conjunction with live customer assistance to provide in-home managed PC support services. Additionally, or in the alternative, customer support is automated with a knowledge base. The system supports VoIP SIP clients to automate and set up certain features.

  • Patent number: 8621197
Abstract: A user agent in a Web access device transmits an HTTP request for Web content to an origin server. The request contains a set of capabilities of the Web access device. A content authoring mechanism and adaptation determination service on the origin server process the request to determine what transformation is required to make the requested content fit the capabilities of the Web access device. The adaptation determination service invokes a niche transformation service that performs, in response to the content and the capabilities, the necessary transformation. The transformed Web content is transmitted to the user agent.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for organizing knowledgebase. The method includes the steps of defining a multi-level knowledgebase framework, the framework comprising a plane one capturing abstract knowledgebase that is universal across at least one of domains and applications, a plane two capturing real world knowledge base describing at least one of domains and applications, and a plane three capturing rules for at least one of recognizing, validating, invalidating and reasoning tasks. Information in different planes is maintained independent of each other. One or more elements may be connected across one or more of planes one, two and three by an information system in accordance with a context derived from an information designation.

  • Patent number: 8498854
Abstract: End-to-end testing of applications across networks is enabled. To test the application and the infrastructure subsystems, an application server connected to the network contains an application under test. A response simulator is connected to the other end of the network. A test module is accessible to the application and to the simulator and contains a test message to be transmitted to the simulator, and an expected response message from the simulator. The application transmits each test message and compares a response message from the simulator to an expected response message. The simulator obtains the response to each test message from the test module.

  • Patent number: 8443232
Abstract: Systems and procedures may be used to coordinate the fail-back of multiple hosts in environments where the hosts share one or more data-storage resources. In one implementation, a procedure for coordinating fail-backs includes monitoring a failed data path to detect a restoration of the data path, polling remaining nodes in response to the restoration, and allowing the first node to resume communications if access has been restored to the remaining nodes.

  • Publication number: 20130086413
Abstract: A method for fast I/O path failure detection and cluster wide failover. The method includes accessing a distributed computer system having a cluster including a plurality of nodes, and experiencing an I/O path failure for a storage device. An I/O failure message is generated in response to the I/O path failure. A cluster wide I/O failure message broadcast to the plurality of nodes that designates a faulted controller. Upon receiving I/O failure responses from the plurality nodes, an I/O queue message is broadcast to the nodes to cause the nodes to queue I/O through the faulted controller and switch to an alternate controller. Upon receiving I/O queue responses from the plurality nodes, an I/O failover commit message is broadcast to the nodes to cause the nodes to commit to a failure and un-queue their I/O.
