  • Publication number: 20230292083
Abstract: Geofencing information for enterprise campus sites is stored in a geofencing database. Having such geofencing information available makes it possible to save power by limiting scans to only regions that are relevant to the User Equipment (UE) doing the scanning. Dynamic credential selection is also made possible. The geofence database is learned and/or provisioned from individual enterprise deployments. As a new enterprise network is deployed, the network accesses a resource that manages the geofencing database and provides information for the newly deployed network.

  • Publication number: 20230292393
Abstract: A first referred to as Approach A has three 40 MHz BWPs. The first BWP of the BWP configuration 2, approach A referred to as “BWP #1” resides in the top of the 100 MHz bandwidth. A second approach referred to as “BWP #2” resides in the middle portion of the 100 MHz band. A third approach referred to as “BWP #3” resides in the bottom portion of the 100 MHz band. BWP configuration 2, approach A allows overlaps between the BWP #1 and BWP #2 and also between BWP #2 and BWP #3. These overlaps can be leveraged to allow a diversity of users to be scheduled across BWPs #1 and #2 and between BWPs #2 and #3. In some embodiments, BWP #2 aligns with BWP Configuration 1 users.

Abstract: A probe device and method for measuring TDD interference from neighboring networks in an Enterprise Network (EN). The probe device is situated on a campus of an EN in a position for measuring TDD interference between a neighboring wireless network. The probe device measures TDD interference data and provides it to an Enterprise Network and Orchestrator, which determines the TDD configuration used by neighboring networks, and can take action to mitigate or resolve interference effects from neighboring networks. The probe UE has a TDD measurement unit that may include an SIB Measurement unit for receiving broadcast SIBs signals from neighboring networks, a UL SINR Measurement Unit, a DL SINR Measurement Unit, and a UL RSSI Measurement Unit. The probe device may be positioned in a fixed location in an Enterprise Network campus, and connected to an external power supply.

  • Patent number: 11696331
Abstract: Logical channel prioritization and mapping to different numerologies is disclosed for 5G networks having multiple network slices operable for communication via logical channels associated with different numerologies. For user equipments (UEs) configured to handle multiple numerologies, different rules for mapping logical channels associated with different numerologies may be defined for data and non-data channels. Thus, when new data arrives at a UE for communication via a logical channel associated with a different numerology, the UE checks whether the mapping rules would allow multiplexing of the new numerology data onto an existing data channel. If no data channel has already been allocated or if an allocated data channel may not include data from the new numerology, then a mapping is followed for specifically requesting resources for communication of the new numerology data. The new mapping may trigger scheduling request or random access procedures specifically associated with the new numerology.

  • Publication number: 20230199820
Abstract: A RAN resource allocation method and apparatus that monitors operation and re-allocates wireless resources if radio resource requirements are not met for one or more BS/APS in the RAN. A system is disclosed that orthogonally allocates Bandwidth Parts (BWPs) to the APs in a RAN. The system monitors the radio resource requirements of APs in realtime, and if requirements are not being met, it can transfer radio resources from one BS/AP to another using BWPs. • Patent number: 11683717
Abstract: A transfer management system for efficiently operating an enterprise wireless communication network (EN) at a campus location enables the EN to control congestion, selectively and smoothly admit UEs, and manage UE exits from the EN. An MNO Network (MN) footprint learning system learns the different MN footprints on the campus, relative to the BS/APs deployed by the individual enterprise, which defines a footprint of wireless coverage for each MNO that has wireless coverage. The MN footprint provides useful information that enables successfully transitioning a UE between an EN and an MNO, which provides the EN with the ability to utilize other networks to offload one or more UEs to manage congestion, delay or deny admission of UEs, and proactively exit UEs to manage congestion or for other reasons.

  • Publication number: 20230189310
Abstract: Various embodiments of a method and apparatus for load balancing with a RAT (multi-Radio Access Technology) AP (Access Point) are disclosed. In some embodiments, dynamic bandwidth allocation for LTE (Long Term Evolution) and 5G NR (New Radio) is provided for a CBSDs (Citizen Broadband radio Service Devices) that support several types of RATs. In some embodiments, the UE population and the active traffic being exchanged in the full deployment and within each site is used to determine the required load balancing needs. In some embodiments, UEs (User Equipment) transition between LTE and 5G NR networks operating through the same CBSD. This is typically done for load balancing. In some embodiments, IP (Internet Protocol) and QoS (Quality of Service) transitions occur with transitions between the LTE and 5G NR networks and between eLTE (Evolved LTE) and NR. In some embodiments, seamless transitions are performed between LTE + WiFi and 5G NR + WiFi.

  • Publication number: 20230155948
Abstract: A system and method are provided in which a first MTU (maximum transmission unit) size is determined messages traveling in a first direction along a path. A second MTU size is determined for messages traveling in a second direction along the same path. Messages are sent in the first and second directions based on the first and second MTU size, respectively. In some embodiments, different sizes are chosen for the DL MTU and the UL MTU. In some embodiments, triggers are used to proactively change the MTU size with network conditions. In some embodiments, packet segmentation may be performed at the eNB/gNB. In some embodiments, mobility support is provided with packet segmentation. In some embodiments, dedicated bearers are pre-established that support specific MTU sizes. In some embodiments, the SDAP (service data adaptation protocol) may announce the MTU size to use for a given flow on the UL.

  • Patent number: 11653288
Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing TACs and TAIs used in communications system is disclosed in which “associated TACs” are used on a global basis and “unassociated TACs” are used on a regional basis. Associated TACs are associated with International Mobile Subscriber Identify (IMSI) Bin Numbers (IBNs). The value of each associated TACs is determined based on an associated IBN that serves as a seed for generating the TAC value. Unassociated TACs are TAC values that are within the “TAC space” of valid TAC values, but that are not within the pool of associated TACs. In some embodiments, there are 60,000 associated TACs and 65,536 total TAC values in the TAC space. Therefore, in such embodiments, there are 5,536 unassociated TACs that are regionally managed.

  • Publication number: 20230121880
Abstract: A method and apparatus for utilizing microslices in an enterprise wireless communication network to manage and control network performance. The microslice instances are monitored during network operation, for example at communication nodes, functional blocks, and end-to-end to provide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These KPI are compared with performance objectives, which may be Service Level Objectives (SLOs). If the performance objectives are not met by the KPIs, then one or more of the microslice instances may be dynamically adjusted until the performance objectives are sufficiently met. Alternatively, the lower priority microslice instances may be dropped (i.e., terminated) until the performance objectives are sufficiently met.

  • Publication number: 20230090081
Abstract: Various embodiments of a method and apparatus for introducing a new service are disclosed. In some embodiments, a first Metric Setting (i.e., a Packet Delay Budget (PDB)) is set based on a type associated with the new service, and initial values of the first Metric Setting is also chosen based on the type of the new service. Network conditions are allowed to vary, and performance parameters are measured, while keeping the first performance matric at a fixed value. The other Metric Settings are set based on the measured performance parameters. The process of varying the network conditions, measuring the performance parameters and setting the Metric Settings based on the measurements are repeated until a set of parameters is arrived at, which optimizes the network's performance. Then the PDB is varied, and the process is repeated to optimize the PRB (Priority Resource Block) utilization.
