  • Patent number: 10511992
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe transmitting data in wireless communications. A set of packets for transmission in a defined sequence can be received where the set of packets includes two or more packets. It can be detected that a packet, of the set of packets, is a prioritized packet type. The packet can be prioritized for transmission ahead of its order in the defined sequence based on the detection of the prioritized packet type. The packet can be transmitted ahead of its order in the defined sequence to an access point.

  • Publication number: 20190380153
Abstract: Logical channel prioritization and mapping to different numerologies is disclosed for 5G networks having multiple network slices operable for communication via logical channels associated with different numerologies. For user equipments (UEs) configured to handle multiple numerologies, different rules for mapping logical channels associated with different numerologies may be defined for data and non-data channels. Thus, when new data arrives at a UE for communication via a logical channel associated with a different numerology, the UE checks whether the mapping rules would allow multiplexing of the new numerology data onto an existing data channel. If no data channel has already been allocated or if an allocated data channel may not include data from the new numerology, then a mapping is followed for specifically requesting resources for communication of the new numerology data. The new mapping may trigger scheduling request or random access procedures specifically associated with the new numerology.

  • Patent number: 10499278
Abstract: Improved methods, systems, devices, or apparatuses support header compression for reduced bandwidth wireless devices prior to an initial transmission that includes a real-time data payload. A data flow containing real-time multimedia data may be initiated between a UE and a base station. In order to enhance the likelihood of meeting data flow timing constraints, compression context may be established prior to a first transmission of a packet with a real-time data payload. The one or more initial transmissions may include a small payload, that is smaller than typical real-time data payloads, may be used to establish compression context for the data flow. When a packet with a real-time payload is to be transmitted, the transmission may use header compression and be transmitted in less time than a transmission without header compression.

  • Patent number: 10470140
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a power headroom report (PHR) to a first base station on a first link of a split bearer and to a second base station on a second link of the split bearer. The UE may evaluate a characteristic associated with the first link or the second link after transmitting the first PHR, and adjust a transmit power value transmitted in the PHR associated with the first link or the second link, or both based on the evaluation. As a result, the UE may transmit an adjusted PHR to the first base station or the second base station, or both.

  • Patent number: 10470090
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) and source base station may use data compression techniques for data packets sent between them. During a handover, the source base station may provide data compression context to a target base station, thus enabling the target base station to continue the data compression following the handover without having to reestablish the data compression context. The source base station may determine data compression capabilities of the UE or the target base station, or both, and may communicate the determined data compression capabilities to the UE or target base station. The source base station may identify at least one gap in a sequence of packets received from the UE, and communicate the existence of the gap to the target base station, which may request retransmission of packets associated with the gap.

  • Patent number: 10462724
Abstract: Minimizing conflicts between different radio access technologies (RATs) is disclosed herein which include monitoring, by a user equipment (UE), a first use of a UE Radio Frequency (RF) resource by a first Radio Access Technology (RAT). The UE monitors a second use of the UE resource by a second RAT. The UE is served by a current serving cell in the second RAT. The UE may also determine a percentage of conflict between a first use of a UE resource by a first RAT and the second use of the UE resource by the second RAT over a predefined period of time, and initiating, by the UE, a cell reselection attempt to one or more neighboring cells of a plurality of neighboring cells serving the second RAT based on the determined percentage of conflict exceeding a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 10447557
Abstract: Techniques to configure quality of service (QoS) and utilize radio resources for a call in a WLAN are described. In an aspect, a station ensures that an access point in the WLAN is suitable for receiving service prior to performing registration to receive services via the WLAN. In another aspect, the station first requests for radio resources for traffic flows, then requests for radio resources for signaling flows, and sends signaling as best effort traffic if radio resources are not granted for the signaling flows. In yet another aspect, the station aggregates QoS for multiple applications and requests for radio resources based on the aggregated QoS. In yet another aspect, the station releases extra radio resources corresponding to the difference between the QoS granted by the WLAN and the QoS proposed by a remote terminal for the call. In yet another aspect, the station requests for the same QoS or lower from a new access point during handoff.

  • Patent number: 10440772
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatuses that use various connection reconfiguration signaling schemes to enable fast user equipment reconfiguration in wireless networks. A network can reduce reconfiguration signaling traffic or overhead by reducing the amount of configuration data sent to each user equipment (UE) in a reconfiguration message. In some examples, when a UE first enters a network area, the network may provide the UE with a list of commonly used baseline configurations. Each baseline configuration may be identified by an index and a value tag. Subsequently, the network may transmit a reconfiguration message including, for example, only the index and value tag to indicate the desired configuration.

  • Patent number: 10412619
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A user equipment (UE), for example, may determine a content size of an uncompressed buffer and a content size of a compressed buffer. The UE may then generate a buffer status report (BSR) based on the content sizes of the uncompressed buffer and the compressed buffer. Alternatively, a base station may receive a BSR based on a size of an uncompressed buffer of the UE. The base station may then receive a compressed packet from the UE and may determine a compression gain based on a size of the compressed packet and a size of a corresponding uncompressed packet. The base station may then adjust the received BSR based on the compression gain.

  • Publication number: 20190238661
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a UE. In aspects, a receiver may receive a transmission requesting information about support for data compression. The receiver may determine parameters related to the types of supported data compression and communicate the information to the transmitting device. In some cases, the receiver may then receive a message from the transmitting entity that requests establishment of a data compression configuration. The receiver may respond with confirmation or rejection of the proposed compression configuration. If the configuration is confirmed, the transmitter and receiver may exchange compressed data packets according to the configuration. The devices may exchange status and control information related to the compression configuration (e.g., in a compression header of a compressed message or a separate status and/or control information message).

  • Publication number: 20190239032
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for providing local broadcasts for group calls. A user equipment (UE) may request a group call, and either a base station or a local server dedicated to the base station may determine whether to allow the group call based at least in part on an assessed level of interest for the group call. If the group call occurs, the UE may perform one or more aspects of user plane processing for the broadcast data—such as setting Internet protocol (IP) addresses in IP packets, encryption, compression, or media formatting—and may transmit the broadcast data to the base station. The base station may then transmit the broadcast data to one or more interested UEs via one or more multicast transmissions without routing the broadcast data through other network nodes, which may reduce latency and provide other benefits.
