  • Publication number: 20160044341
Abstract: A system includes a formatter configured to adapt media content that is stored in memory to a media delivery format that is compatible with a media delivery medium corresponding to transmission medium for delivery of the media content. A delivery manager is configured to process a request for the media content and deliver the media content in the media deliver format via the media delivery medium based on one of a delivery time constraint and a quality constraint. A weighing engine is configured to prioritize the delivery time constraint over the quality constraint for the media content or the quality constraint over the delivery time constraint for the media content based on a type of media content to deliver a timely version of the media content timely via the media delivery medium.

  • Patent number: 8370057
Abstract: The invention provides six different display modes illustrating interaction and relative locations of two or more aerial vehicles (AVs), with at least one of the AVs being controllable by a ground-based or airborne-based controller of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or a pilot of a standard manned aircraft. Some display modes also indicate a predicted distance of closest approach of two AVs, the possibility of conflict or collision, and a remaining time, measured relative to the present time, before this conflict occurs. An audio and/or visual indicator advises the AV controller if this conflict event is likely to occur and recommends an acceleration or deceleration increment that may avoid such conflict.

  • Patent number: 8152337
Abstract: A multi-panel electronic display for use on a structure, comprising a frame removably attached to the structure in such a way as to encounter a natural airflow, a plurality of individual panels mounted on the frame, each panel comprising a first side and a second side opposite the first side, the first side comprising a plurality of light sources, wherein each individual panel works with other individual panels to display an image, and a printed circuit on the second side of more than one of the individual panels of the multi-panel electronic display and in thermally conductive communication with the frame such that heat generated by electronic components on the circuit board is dissipated within the frame and such that the frame is cooled by the natural airflow. The frame may be corrugated to facilitate dissipation of the heat and create space for electrical wiring, and thermally conductive pads may be inserted between the circuit board and the frame to further dissipate heat.

  • Patent number: 7920557
Abstract: A routing switcher performs various soft signaling processing within the router using one or more internal soft media processors (central processing units) to enable flexible solutions. The routing switcher includes a plurality of inputs and outputs operably connected by a cross-point matrix where the inputs are dynamically coupled to one or more of the outputs. The routing switcher also includes a soft media processor connected to the cross-point matrix as well as being dynamically coupled between some inputs and outputs. The soft media processor receives a signal from an input via the cross-point matrix and performs one of at least two signaling processing functions resident on the soft media processor and outputs a processed signal from one or more of the routing switcher's outputs.

  • Patent number: 7805988
Abstract: A formation tester system with a tester tool comprising two or more functionally configured flow lines. The two or more functionally connected flow lines cooperating with one or more pumps and cooperating valves direct fluid to and from various axially disposed sections of the tester tool for analysis, sampling, and optionally ejection into the borehole or into the formation. The functionally connected flow lines extend contiguously through the sections of the tester tool. The functionally configured flow lines, cooperating with the one or more pumps and valves, can also direct fluid to and from various elements within a given tester tool section. Manipulation of fluid flows within the tester tool, as well as analysis, sampling and/or ejection operations, can be varied with the tester tool disposed in the borehole using appropriate commands from the surface of the earth.

  • Patent number: 7706979
Abstract: The invention is a sense-and-avoid display system that obtains position and/or velocity data for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and other aerial vehicles (AVs) from one or more radar and/or GPS data sources by wireless and/or wired data transfer pathways. The UAV and AV data are used to compute and display: present and projected future positions of UAV and other AVs; time and distance of closest approach between UAV and an AV; and recommended change in UAV's flight path and/or flight speed for conflict avoidance. This information is provided to the UAV pilot in 2D and 3D graphic displays. In standard mode of operation, UAV position and/or velocity data are obtained from UAV ground control station (GCS), while data for other AVs are obtained from a non-GCS data source (e.g., radar). In an alternative mode, UAV and other AV data are obtained from the same non-GCS data source. This alternative is an option when UAV is equipped with an identification device (e.g.
