  • Publication number: 20040133365
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of determining forces and torques acting on a riding vehicle. The invention is characterized in that measuring signals from acceleration sensors are evaluated which are fitted, preferably in longitudinal, transverse and vertical alignment, to one or more selected points on the vehicle, and that other signals are evaluated which represent the spatial angular velocity of the vehicle and its time derivative (rolling, pitching and/or yaw velocity and rolling, pitching and/or yaw acceleration) or at least some of these variables, and that a mathematic model of the vehicle is provided in which forces and torques acting on the vehicle or at least selected components of these forces and torques are determined from the sensor signals.

  • Publication number: 20040026158
Abstract: The vehicle steering system includes a steering operating device operable by the driver, in particular a hand steering wheel, each one electromechanical actuator for controlling of each steerable wheel of a wheel pair on a steerable vehicle axle at the right and left side of a vehicle body, means which, in the event of failure or a malfunction of one of the two actuators associated with a steerable vehicle axle, ensure the control of the two vehicle wheels of this vehicle axle by the respectively other, still functioning actuator, at least one set-value transducer for a steering angle being adjusted that is operable by the steering operating device, at least one actual-value transducer recording the steering angle of the vehicle wheels, a central control unit which controls the electromechanical actuators in dependence on a comparison of a signal of the actual-value transducer (actual value) with a signal of the set-value transducer (set value), and a data transmission unit which establishes a data communicat

  • Publication number: 20030075005
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pedal assembly for automotive vehicles. The aim of the invention is to prevent the pedal lever (4) from hitting the leg (13) of the driver when a crash occurs, due to displacement of the actuating rod (11) of the brake booster (9). This object is achieved by preventing the pedal lever (4) from rotating in opposition to the direction of actuation. Several measures are proposed to this end. One of said measures consists in exclusively allowing forces to the transmitted in one direction of actuation, which may be effected with the aid of a tie rod (14) that is unable to transmit any pressure forces. Another suggestion aims at mounting the pedal lever on a separately arranged transverse bar (21) rather than on the splashboard (5) as before.

  • Patent number: 5732379
Abstract: Apparatus for controlling an automotive vehicle is provided. The vehicle has a plurality of wheels, each wheel having an individually operable brake. The apparatus comprises a mechanism for determining the steering angle of the vehicle. A yawing moment controller receives the steering angle and determines a moment that is applied to the vehicle to prevent an undesirable yaw angle, yaw rate or yaw acceleration. Distribution logic receives the output of the yawing moment controller. The distribution logic determines a respectively different weighted coefficient for each individual brake, and an individual braking pressure to be applied to each respective one of the brakes based on the moment and the respective weighted coefficient of the one brake.
