  • Publication number: 20080182618
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for accessing a removable memory source inserted into a mobile communications device to increase performance of the mobile communications device. A configurable serial interface for a mobile communications device is provide to access audio information (e.g., audio files) stored on a removable memory device. In normal operation, the mobile communications device accesses audio information stored on the removable memory source through a conventional serial interface located in the digital application processor and/or directly interfaced with the main processing device. The interface is configurable to change to a second interface (e.g., Serial Low-power Interconnect for Media or SLIMbus (SLIMbus)) after receiving a command to change the interface. The second interface generally utilizes significantly less power than the first interface because the main processing device is not utilized to convert the digital audio files stored on the removable memory device.

  • Publication number: 20080146159
Abstract: An RF transmission system comprises an RF transmitter receiving a base band media signal and generating a broadcast signal on a broadcast frequency. The broadcast frequency may be one of a plurality of transmission frequencies within a frequency band. A radio data control module periodically performs an interference detection measurement to determine whether an interfering signal from a remote transmitter exists at the broadcast frequency. An open frequency is selected if an interfering signal from a remote transmitter exists at the broadcast frequency. The open frequency may be one of the plurality of transmission frequencies wherein RF interference is within predetermined acceptance criteria. The RF transmission system transmits an identification of the open frequency on the broadcast frequency and, following such transmission, switches the broadcast frequency to such open frequency.

  • Patent number: 7082204
Abstract: Noise, such as wind noise, for example, may be detected in an electronic device by generating first and second microphone signals. Cross correlation coefficients are determined for the first and the second microphone signals and autocorrelation coefficients are determined for the first and second microphone signals, respectively. A determination may be made with regard to the presence of a noise component in at least one of the microphone signals based on the cross correlation coefficients, the first autocorrelation coefficients, and the second autocorrelation coefficients.

  • Publication number: 20060148435
Abstract: A method and apparatus provide multichannel signal limiting to prevent any channel signal within a multichannel signal from exceeding defined limits, while still preserving the gain and/or amplitude relationships among the individual channel signals. A limiter is configured to calculate a limiting factor as the value needed to prevent a limit violation on the worst-case one of the channel signals, and then commonly apply that limiting factor to the gain control of all channel signals. Thus, the limiter may generate an actual gain value for each channel signal as the product of that channel signal's desired gain value and the current value of the limiting factor. Notably, in multichannel audio signal applications, coordinating gain control across the individual audio channels by use of the commonly applied limiting factor prevents undesirable spatial shifting of the soundstage, e.g., shifting of the stereo image.

  • Patent number: 7068797
Abstract: A microphone circuit includes a first microphone, a second microphone, an adjustable delay unit, and a combiner. The first microphone generates a first microphone signal that includes a contribution associated with an output signal that is generated by a loudspeaker in response to an input signal. The second microphone generates a second microphone signal that includes a contribution associated with the output signal from the loudspeaker. The adjustable delay unit delays the second microphone signal relative to the first microphone signal by a delay value. The combiner combines the delayed second microphone signal and the first microphone signal to provide a combined microphone signal. The adjustable delay unit adjusts the delay value so as to reduce at least a portion of the contribution to the combined microphone signal that is associated with the output signal from the loudspeaker.
