  • Publication number: 20240080175
Abstract: A method and apparatus according to the present invention addresses and/or prevents lost protocol synchronization in HARQ systems caused by ACK/NACK errors. One embodiment detects lost synchronization errors for NDI-based retransmission protocols and restores synchronization by sending an explicit RESET message. In response to the RESET message, the transmitter aborts the transmission of a current PDU and transmits a new PDU and corresponding NDI. Another embodiment prevents protocol synchronization errors by sending scheduling grants on a packet by packet basis. The receiver sends a subsequent explicit scheduling grant to the transmitter based on an error evaluation of a received PDU. The transmitter will not send the next PDU unless it receives the subsequent explicit scheduling grant.

  • Patent number: 11895059
Abstract: A guard period for switching between uplink and downlink subframes is created by shortening a downlink subframe, i.e., by not transmitting during one or more symbol intervals at the end of the subframe. A grant message includes signaling indicating when a shortened subframe is being transmitted. An example method is implemented in a receiving node configured to receive data from a transmitting node in subframes having a predetermined number of symbol intervals. In an LTE system, this receiving node may be a UE, and the subframes are downlink subframes. This example method includes determining that a received subframe is to be shortened, relative to the predetermined number of symbol intervals and, in response to this determination, disregarding a last part of the received subframe by disregarding one or more symbols at the end of the received subframe when processing the received subframe.

  • Patent number: 11895633
Abstract: Embodiments include methods in a communication system including host computer, base station, and UE. The base station can send the UE an indication of an active bandwidth part (BWP) of a size NZBWP,1size frequency-domain resource blocks (RBs), and select frequency-domain RBs, within the active BWP, to be assigned for carrying the user data to the UE. The base station can encode an indication of the selected frequency-domain RB(s) represented by a starting virtual RB, RBstart, and a length of contiguously allocated RBs, LRBs, using a number of bits. The number is a plurality and related to a size NBWP,2size of another BWP than the active BWP. NBWP,2size is smaller than NBWP,1size. The starting virtual RB is encoded with a resolution of K RBs, with K determined based on a ratio of NBWP,1size and NBWP,2size. The base station can send the encoded indication to the UE via a downlink control channel.

  • Publication number: 20240040469
Abstract: Mechanisms for efficient transmission of large amount of download data from a base station to a user equipment in a multi-carrier that minimizes power consumption on the user equipment are described. When multiple component carriers are to be used to transmit the download data, the base station informs the user equipment. The base station transmits on the anchor carriers without wait after informing the user equipment and transmits on the non-anchor carriers after waiting a predetermined delay. The predetermined delay provides time to allow the user equipment to activate the receiving resources and be ready to receive the download data over the non-anchor carriers. In this manner, the user equipment can be in a power conservation mode and activate the receiver resources only when needed.
