Publication number: 20080317185Abstract: The clock generating portion of a communication system includes a low-power, high-jitter phase locked loop (PLL) and a high-power, low-jitter PLL. Control logic within the chip allows for selective switching between the low-power and high-power PLL for receiving the broadcast signals, such as mobile TV signals. The switching may occur in a manner that is dependent on the conditions of the wireless channel and/or the complexity of the modulation scheme being used. The switching may be used to provide an oscillating signal from one or both of the PLLs to a receiver to be used to receive communication signals. The control logic may power off one of the PLLs to save power when not in use.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 18, 2007Publication date: December 25, 2008Applicant: BROADCOM CORPORATIONInventors: Stephen A. Mueller, Jeffrey Putnam, Xuguang (Gary) Zhang

Publication number: 20070127707Abstract: A subscriber associates a ring-tone media selection based on a media genre, author, or title to a calling number. When an incoming call is detected, a particular ring-tone media selection, based on the subscriber's association, may be streamed from a central server to the subscriber's customer premises equipment and then played. Alternatively, when an incoming call is detected, a particular ring-tone selection indicator, based on the subscriber's association, may be sent from a central server to the subscriber's customer premises equipment which then plays a pre-stored ring-tone selection media associated with the indicator.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2006Publication date: June 7, 2007Applicant: SBC PROPERTIES, L.P.Inventors: Thomas KOSER, Jeffery SCRUGGS, Stephen MUELLER

Publication number: 20060045252Abstract: Devices, methods and systems for enhanced ringing features on communications terminals. Flexible user-established rules, customized in a subscriber profile database, enable the ring-tone to vary based on caller-id, caller priority, call-urgency (as determined by caller), call context and so forth. Call set-up logic applies the profile rules prior to completing the call set-up. “Buzz-tones” extend the basic distinctive ringing feature to the “silent” mode that is currently available on cell-phones, which is of particular utility to subscribers with hearing disabilities. Other kinds of alerts (audio/motion/visual) like flashing colors on a display, moving pictures and the like, and any combination of notification modes, are contemplated by alternative embodiments.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2004Publication date: March 2, 2006Inventors: Sreenivasa Gorti, Stephen Mueller, Jeffrey Brandt, Huitao Liu

Publication number: 20050141500Abstract: A system and method are provided for reviewing and updating a subscriber's telecommunications services using a graphical user interface via multiple data networks. A data message is received at an intelligent peripheral from the graphical user interface via at least one of the data networks. The data message indicates a subscriber's desired update to a selected service. The data message is converted into a protocol compatible with a service control point. The converted data message is identical to a data message that the intelligent peripheral would create if the subscriber had entered the desired update via an interactive voice response system. The converted data message is transmitted to the service control point, which updates the service in accordance with the subscriber's update. Thus, the service is updated substantially contemporaneously with the request. Moreover, the subscriber retains the ability to update and review service data via the interactive voice response.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2005Publication date: June 30, 2005Applicant: SBC Technology Resources, Inc.Inventors: Anil Bhandari, Xiaolian Bi, Jeffrey Brandt, Christine Hartman, Alexander Huang, Jeffrey Johnson, James Miller, Stephen Mueller, Jeffrey Scruggs
