  • Publication number: 20190115466
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for incorporating high mobility strained channels into fin-based NMOS transistors (e.g., FinFETs such as double-gate, trigate, etc), wherein a stress material is cladded onto the channel area of the fin. In one example embodiment, a germanium or silicon germanium film is cladded onto silicon fins in order to provide a desired tensile strain in the core of the fin, although other fin and cladding materials can be used. The techniques are compatible with typical process flows, and cladding deposition can occur at a plurality of locations within typical process flow. In various embodiments, fins may be formed with a minimum width (or later thinned) so as to improve transistor performance. In some embodiments, a thinned fin also increases tensile strain across the core of a cladded fin. In some cases, strain in the core may be further enhanced by adding an embedded silicon epitaxial source and drain.

  • Publication number: 20190114797
Abstract: A first image and a second image of a scene are obtained for use in detecting the location of the floor in the scene. A first of the images is mapped onto a candidate plane that is perpendicular to a gravity vector, thereby creating a texture-mapped plane. The texture-mapped plane is projected into the geometry of the camera utilized to take the second image to create an artificial first image. A comparison is then performed between the first image and the artificial first image to generate a similarity score. Multiple candidate planes are processed in this manner for the first and second images, and the candidate plane generating the highest associated similarity score is chosen as the floor. This process can be repeated for multiple sets of stereo images.

  • Publication number: 20190113577
Abstract: A method of using data-driven predictive modeling to predict and classify battery cells by lifetime is provided that includes collecting a training dataset by cycling battery cells between a voltage V1 and a voltage V2, continuously measuring battery cell voltage, current, can temperature, and internal resistance during cycling, generating a discharge voltage curve for each cell that is dependent on a discharge capacity for a given cycle, calculating, using data from the discharge voltage curve, a cycle-to-cycle evolution of cell charge to output a cell voltage versus charge curve Q(V), generating transformations of ?Q(V), generating transformations of data streams that include capacity, temperature and internal resistance, applying a machine learning model to determine a combination of a subset of the transformations to predict cell operation characteristics, and applying the machine learning model to output the predicted battery operation characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20190115340
Abstract: Various embodiments are directed to electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection apparatus comprising a bipolar junction transistor (BJT) having terminals, a field-effect transistor (FET) having terminals, and a common base region connected to a recombination region. The BJT and the FET are integrated with one another and include a common region that is shared by the BJT and the FET. The BJT and FET collectively bias the common base region and prevent triggering of the BJT by causing a potential of the common base region to follow a potential of one of the terminals of the BJT in response to an excessive but tolerable non-ESD voltage change at one or more of the terminals.

  • Publication number: 20190114319
Abstract: Embodiments make novel use of random data structures to facilitate streaming inference for a Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model. Utilizing random data structures facilitates streaming inference by entirely avoiding the need for pre-computation, which is generally an obstacle to many current “streaming” variants of LDA as described above. Specifically, streaming inference—based on an inference algorithm such as Stochastic Cellular Automata (SCA), Gibbs sampling, and/or Stochastic Expectation Maximization (SEM)—is implemented using a count-min sketch to track sufficient statistics for the inference procedure. Use of a count-min sketch avoids the need to know the vocabulary size V a priori. Also, use of a count-min sketch directly enables feature hashing, which addresses the problem of effectively encoding words into indices without the need of pre-computation. Approximate counters are also used within the count-min sketch to avoid bit overflow issues with the counts in the sketch.

  • Publication number: 20190113241
Abstract: A combined ventilation hood and microwave oven system (10) with an overall vertical dimension (30) is provided, which is smaller than a conventional combined ventilation hood and microwave oven. One or more vent hood fans (66;74) are disposed on lateral sides of a microwave coo-king cavity (34) to draw in exhaust air (92;93) through one or more vent inlets (54;56;158;160) disposed on a bottom surface (20;156) and expel the exhaust air (92;93;162) through one or more vent outlets (46;52) defined on a surface of an outer wrapper (80) of the combined system. The low-profile combined ventilation hood and microwave oven system is coupled with a modular heating system (150;180) for heating food, which provides both functions within the space typically required by the conventional combined ventilation hood and microwave oven.

  • Publication number: 20190112767
Abstract: Some deck or patio areas constructed of payers mourned on adjustable pedestal supports must remain snow and ice free on their top surfaces. The pedestal-mounted paver heating system is designed to allow easy installation of electric heating cable that is positioned against the bottom surface of pavers so that heat generated by the cable is efficiently transferred up into the payers to raise their temperature enough to prevent the accumulation of snow and ice on their top surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20190116322
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate generally to systems and methods for analyzing and manipulating images and video. In particular, a multi-view interactive digital media representation (MVIDMR) of a person can be generated from live images of a person captured from a hand-held camera. Using the image data from the live images, a skeleton of the person and a boundary between the person and a background can be determined from different viewing angles and across multiple images. Using the skeleton and the boundary data, effects can be added to the person, such as wings. The effects can change from image to image to account for the different viewing angles of the person captured in each image.

  • Publication number: 20190113361
Abstract: A computer system can estimate preparation times associated with items offered by a plurality of entities to manage a service over a given geographic region. The computer system can receive, from a user device of a user, a request that includes a selection of one or more items offered by one or more entities near the service location. The network system can determine an optimal route of navigation for a service provider to navigate in fulfilling the request. The route of navigation can be determined based at least in part on timing information associated with the one or more items selected by the user. The timing information can be determined based on historical data and/or real-time data.

  • Publication number: 20190114091
Abstract: A host divides a dataset into stripes and sends the stripes to respective data chips of a distributed memory buffer system, where the data chips buffer the respective slices. Each data chip can buffer stripes from multiple datasets. Through the use of: (i) error detection methods; (ii) tagging the stripes for identification; and (iii) acknowledgement responses from the data chips, the host keeps track of the status of each slice at the data chips. If errors are detected for a given stripe, the host resends the stripe in the next store cycle, concurrently with stripes for the next dataset. Once all stripes have been received error-free across all the data chips, the host issues a store command which triggers the data chips to move the respective stripes from buffer to memory.
