    Abstract: The invention provides a vending machine for dispensing hot packaged food. The vending machine includes a storage and dispenser unit comprising plural dispensing trays arranged in an array for storing one or more packaged foods, a frame, and a carrier structure. Each individual dispensing tray includes a pivotable gate and a slideway inclined by a tilting angle from a horizontal axis. The carrier structure comprises a carrying arm having an engaging feature; and an engaging mechanism for actuating the pivotable gate. The engaging mechanism is configured to move the carrying arm towards the individual dispensing tray such that the engaging feature actuates the pivotable gate from a locked position to an unlocked position. The packaged food is prevented from sliding down when the pivotable gate is at the locked position. The packaged food is slidable relative to the individual dispensing tray when the pivotable gate is at the unlocked position.

The GAN further takes masks as inputs with each image, the masks labeling pixels of the image corresponding to dental features (anatomy and/or treatments). The GAN includes an encoder-decoder with normalization between stages of the decoder according to the masks. A synthetic image and an unpaired dental image is evaluated by a first discriminator of the GAN to obtain a realism estimate. The synthetic image and an unpaired dental image may be processed using a pretrained dental encoder to obtain a perceptual loss. The GAN is trained with the realism estimate and perceptual loss. Utilization may include modifying a mask for an input image to include or exclude a shape of a feature such that the synthetic image includes or excludes a dental feature.

Feature measurements and/or the diagnosis may be processed according to a diagnosis hierarchy to determine whether a treatment is appropriate. Machine learning models may further be used to reorient, decontaminate, and restore the image prior to processing. Machine learning models may be embodied as CNN, GAN, and cyclic GAN.

    Abstract: In a liquid crystal display (LCD), a liquid crystal (LC) panel has a display area of arbitrary shape. A light-emitting area of a backlight panel is partitioned into zones for providing local dimming to the LC panel. The LC panel is partitioned into display regions. An apparatus for controlling the LC panel and the backlight panel has zone registers each recording a proportion of area of a zone covered by a corresponding display region. The apparatus computes a dimming factor for the zone according to its recorded proportion and pixel data of a portion of image located on the zone, allowing local dimming to be provided without requiring boundary information of the display area. A two-phase arrangement is used to calculate the dimming factor, achieving local dimming to save power in backlight generation while reducing a potential loss of image brightness in high-brightness part of the image portion.

The provided method can utilize the scan sequence in a more flexible way to make better use of the available scan time such that a higher display resolution or dynamic range can be achieved without increasing the scanning frequency.
