Patent number: 9094533Abstract: Systems, methods and interfaces are disclosed for managing communications associated with a mobile communication device. Mobile communication devices process environmental inputs and transmit mobile communication device context information to a communication management system. The context information may, for example, reflect the motion and/or geographic location of the mobile device, and may reflect the risk associated with using the device to handle a call or other communications session. The communication management system uses the context information, optionally in combination with communication device profiles, to determine how to manage incoming and/or ongoing calls or other communication sessions. Mobile device users may also be inhibited from initiating communication sessions.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2012Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: Aegis Mobility, Inc.Inventors: John J. Geyer, Peter A. Featherstone, Andrew S. Wright, Mandy Chan, Stephen J. Williams

Publication number: 20150147973Abstract: Systems and methods are provided enabling context information, such as a current speed of travel, to be transmitted between a context source, such as a vehicle, and a mobile device. Illustratively, the mobile device may be configured to utilize context information to enforce context-based restrictions on the mobile device, such as to restrict non-emergency functionality of the device when travelling above a threshold speed. Specifically, embodiments of the present application enable context information to be encoded within service data, and transmitted to the mobile device without requiring an established connection (e.g., a “pairing”) between the mobile device and the context source. For example, specific context information may be encoded into a service identifier, and transmitted within a service record to the mobile device. The mobile device may then decode the context information from the service identifier to determine a context, e.g., for use in context-based policy enforcement.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 25, 2014Publication date: May 28, 2015Inventors: Stephen J. Publication number: 20150140975Abstract: A communication environment includes of one or more subscriber terminals capable of initiating emergency voice calls over a telephony network. The subscriber terminal further send messages over either a data network or a telephony signaling network to a communication management system. The communication management system receives messages from a subscriber terminal, either via a data network or a telephony signaling network. It also consists of one or more telephony switching nodes capable of querying the emergency context node for a called party emergency context. It also consists of one or more servers that provide advanced call control services.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2015Publication date: May 21, 2015Inventors: Andrew S. Wright, Stephen J. Publication number: 20150079943Abstract: Systems, methods and interfaces are disclosed for restricting functionality of protected mobile communication devices. Protected mobile communication devices may generally include mobile communication devices that do not allow applications to directly restrict the mobile communication device's functionalities, such as call reception or access to a standard user interface. Specifically, a mobile application can monitor the context of the mobile communication device to determine whether the device is in one of three states: inactive; active and locked; or active and under the application's control. When the device enters the active and locked state, the mobile application can ensure that unlocking the device places the device under the application's control. Further, when the device is under the application's control, the mobile application can ensure that leaving the application's control places the device in a locked state.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2014Publication date: March 19, 2015Inventor: Stephen J. Publication number: 20150024436Abstract: This disclosure provides an integrated and automated sample-to-answer system that, starting from a sample comprising biological material, generates a genetic profile in less than two hours. In certain embodiments, the biological material is DNA and the genetic profile involves determining alleles at one or a plurality of loci (e.g., genetic loci) of a subject, for example, an STR (short tandem repeat) profile, for example as used in the CODIS system. The system can perform several operations, including (a) extraction and isolation of nucleic acid; (b) amplification of nucleotide sequences at selected loci (e.g., genetic loci); and (c) detection and analysis of amplification product. These operations can be carried out in a system that comprises several integrated modules, including an analyte preparation module; a detection and analysis module and a control module.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2013Publication date: January 22, 2015Applicant: INTEGENX INC,Inventors: David Eberhart, Yuan Li, James Ogg, Ezra Van Gelder, Stephen J. Publication number: 20140370523Abstract: Methods are provided for determining or otherwise assessing the response of a patient to treatment, in particular, to cancer treatment. The methods include the analysis of samples for the presence or the absence of HER2 markers alone or in conjunction with other biomarkers, such as HER3 markers. In certain examples, the probable time to progression can be determined by first determining HER2 positive patients and then further stratifying by using the presence or the absence of a second biomarker (e.g, HER3 markers). In addition, the data can be used to track a patient's response to a treatment regimen, assessing the expected success of treating a patient using a particular regiment, determining the effects of a treatment regiment or for categorizing a patient in order to create a homogenous group for a clinical trial.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2014Publication date: December 18, 2014Applicant: Laboratory Corporation of America HoldingsInventors: Michael Bates, Jennifer W. Publication number: 20140248865Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure correspond to the utilization of criteria for distinguishing between temporary changes to mobile communication device movement state in determining whether a mobile communication device context has changed. A mobile communication device can be configured to manage one or more aspects of functionality of the mobile communication device based on a mobile communication device context. At some point, the mobile communication device can determine a transition to a substantially stationary state. Rather than immediately transitioning the mobile communication device context, the mobile communication device can define a period of time in which additional changes to the mobile communication device movement state can be detected. Accordingly, if the mobile communication device movement state transitions again to a non-stationary movement state within the guard period, the mobile communication device context remains in the non-stationary movement state and never transitions.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2014Publication date: September 4, 2014Applicant: Aegis Mobility, Inc.Inventor: Stephen J. Publication number: 20140065628Abstract: The disclosure provides methods and devices for separating and detecting nucleic acid fragments labeled with a plurality of spectrally resolvable dyes using a single light source or multiple light sources. Use of a greater number of light sources increases the number of spectrally resolvable dyes that can be interrogated. Labeling fragments with a greater number of spectrally resolvable dyes permits more overlapping of fragments with differentiation of the fragments, and thus separation can be conducted on a smaller range of fragment sizes/lengths. To improve the detection sensitivity of a detection system employing multiple light sources, light emitted by the light sources can be spatially separated from one another and/or the intensity of each of the light sources can be modulated. Each of the one or more light sources can be, e.g., a laser or a light-emitting diode. The methods and devices of the disclosure are useful for performing genetic analysis, e.g.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2013Publication date: March 6, 2014Applicant: IntegenX Inc.Inventors: Ezra Van Gelder, Stephen J.
