  • Publication number: 20150026658
Abstract: Systems, methods and media are provided for dynamically creating/updating an activation context at runtime. One method includes receiving a request to create a component object, the request including a component identification of the requested component. The method also includes accessing a type library associated with each of multiple executable files. The type library includes an identification of each executable file and library content. The method further includes updating a manifest at runtime by enumerating the library content of each executable file and adding to the manifest the identification and the enumerated library content. The method also includes creating an activation context based on the updated manifest and determining using the component identification whether the activation context includes the requested component.

  • Patent number: 8938598
Abstract: A technique for ensuring that multiple producer threads may simultaneously write entries in a shared queue and one or more consumers may read valid data from the shared queue. Writing of the shared queue by the multiple producer threads may occur in parallel and the one or more consumer threads may read the shared queue while the producer threads write the shared queue. A “wait-free” mechanism allows any producer thread that writes a shared queue to advance an inner pointer that is used by a consumer thread to read valid data from the shared queue. The inner pointer indicates the most recent valid entry. An output pointer is advanced with an atomic operation to indicate a next entry or portion of memory in the shared queue that is available for allocation. The shared queue may be implemented as a circular buffer.

  • Patent number: 8862503
Abstract: A method of tracking software application downloads over the internet in which clicking on a web advertisement for a software application causes a user's device web browser to link to a tracking server which creates a unique identifier which is stored by the user's device browser, and also on the tracking server together with an indication of the web page including the advertisement. The user's device web browser then downloads the desired software application which includes executable code which, upon first execution, suspends the downloaded application and starts the browser, directing it to the tracking server and sending the unique identifier to the tracking server together with identification of the device and downloaded software application. The tracking server then uses the unique identifier to correlate the information on the downloaded application with the information originally stored at the time of clicking on the web advertisement.

  • Patent number: 8752018
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for emitting coherent output from multiple threads for the printf( ) function. Additionally, parallel (not divergent) execution of the threads for the printf( ) function is maintained when possible to improve run-time performance. Processing of the printf( ) function is separated into two tasks, gathering of the per thread data and formatting the gathered data according to the formatting codes for display. The threads emit a coherent stream of contiguous segments, where each segment includes the format string for the printf( ) function and the gathered data for a thread. The coherent stream is written by the threads and read by a display processor. The display processor executes a single thread to format the gathered data according to the format string for display.
