  • Publication number: 20170368469
Abstract: A system and method to partially vaporize a process or feed water stream does so in a liquid pool zone of a vessel as the stream comes into contact with a heating medium that is less volatile than the process stream. To keep the pool hot, the heating medium can be recirculated through a heater of a pump-around loop or a heater can be placed in the liquid pool. As the process stream is partially vaporized, any solids present in the process stream together with the unvaporized process or feed water stream move into the heating medium. These solids and unvaporized liquids may be further removed from the heating medium in the pool or in the pump-around loop. The vaporized process stream can be further condensed. Any heat recovered can be used to pre-heat the process stream or in the pump-around loop's heater in case of mechanical vapor recovery.

  • Publication number: 20170368470
Abstract: A system and method to desalinate a feed water stream does so in a liquid pool zone of a vessel as the stream comes into contact with a heating medium that is less volatile than the feed water stream. To keep the pool hot, the heating medium can be recirculated through a heater of a pump-around loop or a heater can be placed in the liquid pool. As the feed water stream is vaporized or partially vaporized, any solids and unvaporized water present in the feed water stream come out of the stream and move into the heating medium. These solids and unvaporized water may be further removed from the heating medium in the pool or in the pump-around loop. The heat exchange surface does not contact the feed water.

  • Publication number: 20170242794
Abstract: In response to a cacheable write request from a host, physical cache locations are allocated from a free list, and the data blocks are written to those cache locations without regard to whether any read requests to the corresponding logical addresses are pending. After the data has been written, and again without regard to whether any read requests are pending against the corresponding logical addresses, metadata is updated to associate the cache locations with the logical addresses. A count of data access requests pending against each cache location having valid data is maintained, and a cache location is only returned to the free list when the count indicates no data access requests are pending against the cache location.

  • Patent number: 9609881
Abstract: An improved apparatus for processing sea cucumbers having stages for orienting/aligning, cutting, splitting, flattening, eviscerating and cleaning the sea cucumber, and for collecting the eviscerated innards. A method for the automated splitting and evisceration of sea cucumbers using the apparatus of the present disclosure. A flattening plate and trough during the orienting/aligning step relax the sea cucumber and discourage its defence mechanisms. A wedge shaped flattening plate splits and flattens the sea cucumber immediately after the incision. Pronged discs maintain positioning of the sea cucumber during an aggressive wash and brush cleaning cycle, which may be repeated. Optionally, a vacuum may suction off a portion of the innards prior to cleaning.

  • Publication number: 20170015613
Abstract: Monoethylene glycol (MEG) may be reclaimed by a process that includes contacting a MEG-water-salt stream with a heat transfer fluid and then flash separating the MEG and water in the flash separator vessel where the pressure is higher than 0.3 barA (0.03 MPa), the temperature is in the range of above 120° C. to about 250° C., and the residence time of the MEG and water ranges from about 1 second to about 10 minutes, and then removing the MEG and water in an overhead of the flash separator vessel and removing the salt from the flash separator vessel. In some embodiments it is expected that the temperature of the process may range from above 165° C. to about 250° C. and/or that the pressure may be atmospheric.

  • Patent number: 8631983
Abstract: A holder and vehicle storage system are provided for securely retaining objects, such as in the glove compartments of automobiles, trucks, boats, etc. The holder may be mounted to the inside of a glove compartment door such that it is out of sight when the glove compartment door is closed. The vehicle storage system uses a conventional latch mechanism to mount the holder to the door without the need for additional fasteners. An object may be retained within the holder through the use of two undercut tabs for snap-fit reception of the object. The holder and vehicle storage system may be used to hold electronic instruments having sensitive components that would otherwise be damaged during movement of a vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20130018006
Abstract: A group of compounds formed from phosphorylated monosaccharides and/or phosphorylated oligosaccharides esterified with physiologic methyl donors consisting of choline, and methyl donors chosen from a group consisting of esteried with a substance chosen from the group consisting of methylene choline and all their derivatives and metabolites thereof. A new compound, glycerylphosphorylcholine (GPC), and its use for slowing or reducing athersclerosis and arthritis, especially osteoarthritis. Several classes of agents to prevent and cure hardening of the arteries is described. The same physiologic interaction of calcium and phosphorus applies throughout. Additional components also make it effective against rheumatoid arthritis.

  • Publication number: 20110284527
Abstract: An auxiliary welding heating system includes an induction heating coil disposed adjacent to a welding torch or plasma cutter. The auxiliary welding heating system further includes an induction power supply configured to generate an alternating current and a step-down transformer coupled to the induction power supply. The induction heating coil is coupled to the step-down transformer and is configured to receive the alternating current and induce eddy currents in a welding work piece to heat the welding work piece before an advancing welding arc or plasma cut to a homologous temperature of at least approximately 0.5.

  • Publication number: 20110089797
Abstract: A strength-enhanced lightweight cabinet system that employs a combination of lightweight composite materials is disclosed. The materials employ a combination of different processes to create a lightweight cabinet system that is structurally sound and functional. In aspects, the combination utilizes two reaction injection molding processes, and one conventional injection molding process. One of the reaction injection molding processes is IVCR (Improved Vinyl Clad Rigid) while the other is T-RIM™. The combination of these materials and processes results in a cabinet system that reduces the weight considerably over a conventional steel and/or combination of steel and other materials that is used in heavy truck sleeper cabs today.

  • Publication number: 20100300349
Abstract: A remote pipe identifier system is implemented by a source vibrational transmitter mechanically attached to a selected pipe at one location which transmits vibrations into the source pipe. A technician is able to detect the vibrations in a remote location by using a sensitive detector and thus successfully identify the pipe of interest in his work quickly and without any invasive technique.

  • Patent number: 7640802
Abstract: A method of analysing tachometer and vibration response data from an apparatus having one or more rotary components is provided. The method comprises the steps of: providing vibration response data and corresponding tachometer data from the apparatus for a period over which a rotary component of the apparatus varies in rotational speed, the tachometer data being for that component; repeatedly performing at intervals throughout the period the sub-steps of: determining a forcing frequency of the component from the tachometer data and a corresponding vibration response frequency of the apparatus from the vibration response data, comparing the forcing and vibration response frequencies to determine the relative phase difference between the frequencies, and determining the corresponding amplitude of the vibration response from the vibration response data; and plotting the relative phase differences and vibration amplitudes on a polar diagram.
