  • Publication number: 20210382320
Abstract: Broadly speaking, embodiments of the present techniques provide shape memory alloy (SMA) actuation apparatus for moving a moveable component relative to a static component or support structure and along a notional primary axis. The SMA actuation apparatus may comprise a biasing element to resist motion of the moveable component in particular directions relative to the primary axis, or may comprise an arrangement of SMA actuator wires that provides the biasing function.

  • Publication number: 20210365120
Abstract: Broadly speaking, embodiments of the present techniques provide haptic button assemblies in which the haptic button has a low profile while still providing a satisfying tactile response or sensation to a user. Advantageously, the haptic button assemblies may have a profile that, for example, enables the assembly to be incorporated into the free space along an edge of a portable computing device. The haptic assemblies may, for example, be arranged to move the button perpendicularly with respect to the edge of the device.

  • Publication number: 20210327568
Abstract: Systems and methods for visually displaying instances of increased susceptibility for commission of medical errors are provided. Execution of programming instructions on a computer-readable medium causes a processor to retrieve historical workload data corresponding to environmental conditions experienced by and near misses associated with an individual or team of individuals during a first period of time from one or more data repositories. Retrieved workload data is processed to establish threshold limits for distinct working conditions represented within the workload data for the individual or team of individuals. Workload data corresponding to a second period of time is retrieved for the individual or team of individuals and compared to established threshold limits by the processor. Based on the comparison, the processor generates one or more displayable indicia indicative of the individual's or team of individuals' risk of committing a medical error due to an experienced workload.

Abstract: An autonomous inspection solution includes: a UAV having a navigation component and a first inspection sensor suite. The navigation component is configured to: autonomously deploy the UAV from a support vehicle; fly a first route at an inspection site, based at least upon a sensor type of the first inspection sensor suite; and autonomously return to the support vehicle upon completion of assigned inspections. In some examples, the first inspection sensor suite includes an optical camera, a thermal imaging sensor, an RF sensor, or an inventory management sensor, and a second inspection sensor suite has at least one different sensor than the first inspection sensor suite. The navigation component is further configured navigate the UAV to fly a second route, based at least upon a sensor type of the second inspection sensor suite. • Publication number: 20210275074
Abstract: A grip assessment device includes a support structure having a periphery, a cover positioned around the support structure and configured to define a grip surface, and a plurality of sensor elements disposed along the periphery of the support structure, each respective sensor element of the plurality of sensor elements being configured to generate an output signal indicative of force applied to the grip surface at the respective sensor element. The plurality of sensor elements are distributed across the grip surface such that the output signals from the plurality of sensor elements are collectively indicative of a grip profile along the grip surface, the grip profile providing grip position data and grip magnitude data correlated with the grip position data.

  • Patent number: 11093810
Abstract: A multizone equipment tracking solution includes radio frequency identification (RFID) tags affixed to items of inventoried equipment; a plurality of RFID readers deployed in a plurality of different zones, including a transit zone and a storage zone, wherein an RFID reader in a transit zone comprises a mobile reader; and a monitoring node. The RFID readers read the plurality of tags, for example from items that are in the different zones, and report the tag codes to the monitoring node. Examples permit a real-time, end-to-end view of inventoried equipment across different zones, spanning multiple, widely-dispersed storage locations, in-transit routes (for both installation delivery and decommissioning recovery), and at operational sites. Reported data, including locations, times (e.g., durations), may be advantageously mined to provide value for inventory management by locating misplaced or incorrectly-routed items, and identifying excessive transit and storage times and actual loss events.

  • Publication number: 20210212614
Abstract: An oximetry device includes an inductive detector. When the oximetry device is sealed in a sheath and a latch of the sheath is in a latched position, the inductive detector inductively detects that latch. The oximeter device uses first information received from the detector for the latch being in the latched position to allow the device to take oximetry measurements. The oximeter device uses second information received from the detector for the latch not being in the latched position to allow the device to display a message on a display of the device that the sheath is not sealed. The displayed message indicates to a user that the sheath lid needs to be closed. The closed lid prevents contaminants in the sheath from reaching patient tissue during use of the device and sheath.

  • Publication number: 20210212583
Abstract: A sheath for an oximetry device includes a top and a body where the top opens to provide an opening where the oximetry device can be placed into the body of the sheath. The top of the sheath can be closed onto the body and the closure of the top can be verified by circuits in the oximetry device. The circuits can monitor the position of a latch that is connected to the top of the sheath. The circuits can determine when the latch is unlatched and the top is open and not sealed closed to the body. And, the circuits can determine when the latch is latched and the top is closed and sealed to the body.

  • Patent number: 10901846
Abstract: The techniques described herein are configured to improve the remanufacturing process by waiting to rebuild selective data items stored on a storage device that is unavailable. A storage device is unavailable when it is taken offline and/or disconnected from a network. The storage device may be taken offline due to a failed component (e.g., an actuator arm, an actuator head, damage to the underlying storage media, etc.). The storage device comprises multiple independent logical units, where a logical unit is a uniquely addressable portion of a storage device that is visible and/or that is exposed to a host. Accordingly, the techniques described herein are configured to conserve resources by selectively rebuilding data items stored in logical units of an offline storage device that are not affected by a remanufacturing process implemented due to a failed component.

  • Publication number: 20200349121
Abstract: A file system is implemented in a system comprising an anonymous-write storage device. A request for a file system operation that comprises semantics of the file system to receiving the request is received. The file system translates the file system operation to one or more commands that effect the file system operation while maintaining consistency with operation of the anonymous-write storage device. The one or more commands comprise one or more of updating file system metadata, sending a request to the anonymous-write storage device, or receiving a response from the anonymous-write storage device. The anonymous-write storage device is configured to write data in an append-only format and determine locations of data write operations agnostic of input of a write location from the file system. Metadata is updated to indicate results of the file system operation.
