A flexible printed circuit tape (103) connected between the support structure (4) and the lens assembly (20) and providing an electrical connection to the auto-focus actuator arrangement (24) is bent around a corner, thereby allowing the flexible printed circuit tape (103) to accommodate the motion of the lens assembly perpendicular to the optical axis. A crimp plate (62) connected to the lens assembly which crimps shape memory alloy wires (80) has features (63) extending out of the plane of the crimp plate for reducing flexibility.

Abstract: A rotational exercise device is disclosed. The rotational exercise device includes an upper platform rotatably coupled to a base. The base is configured to rest on the floor. Elastic members located in the base interact with posts located in the upper platform to provide rotatable resistance between the upper platform and base. The elastic members may be exchanged to provide a desired resistance. The rotatable resistance permits the user to perform controlled exercise movements to assist in the physical therapy of rotational joints.

Abstract: Aspects include performing online condition monitoring. Online condition monitoring includes compiling the digital sensor data to produce compiled data and processing the compiled data via a signal analysis operation to produce digitally analyzed data. Further, online condition monitoring includes comparing the digitally analyzed data to at least one threshold to output corresponding values and utilizing the corresponding value to determine whether to issue an event notification.

Abstract: Systems and methods for a ring laser gyroscope with electrically isolated dither motor are provided. In one embodiment, a ring laser gyroscope, the gyroscope comprises: a laser block comprising a discharge gas filled chamber ring, a cathode, an anode and at least one other electrode; a dither motor mechanically coupled to the laser block and to a sensor chassis, wherein the laser block is secured to the sensor chassis by the dither motor; and an electrical isolator positioned between the dither motor and the laser block, wherein the electrical isolator electrically isolates the dither motor from the sensor chassis.

Abstract: A system in which a file system may operate on a volume in which the logical address extent of the volume is divided into multiple tiers, each tier providing storage having a distinct trait set by mapping the logical addresses of the volume to appropriate underlying storage systems. A volume system exposes the volume to the file system in a manner that the file system itself has awareness of the tiers, and is aware of the trait sets of each tier. The file system may thus store file system namespaces (such as directories and files) into the tiers as appropriate for the file system namespace. A provisioning system may also be provided and be configured to provision the volume to include such tiers, and if desired, to extend the tiers.

Abstract: Sediment-control fences that are structurally enhanced to prevent failure due to hydrostatic and hydrodynamic forces are disclosed. The sediment-control fences comprise a permeable geotextile material and reinforcing straps located at controlled heights. The reinforcing straps provide added strength and stiffness at key structural locations along the height of the sediment-control fence.

Abstract: A voice coil motor control signal is detected being coupled into a vibration sensor of a hard disk drive. The vibration sensor is used to provide a feedforward signal to a servo control system of the hard disk drive. In response to detecting the coupling, the feedforward signal is modified to prevent instability of the servo control system.

Abstract: A protective case for a portable electronic device including a reading assistance lens assembly, and a case housing. The reading assistance lens assembly includes a housing having a front, back and side perimeter, and at least one lens associated with said housing. The case housing includes a frame, and an extension/retraction mechanism attached to the frame. The frame is configured to provide the reading assistance lens assembly to be extended and recessed within the protective case. The reading assistance lens assembly can be deployed by a sliding assembly, a biased hinge assembly, or a biased spring loaded assembly.

Abstract: A cable drum receives a length of working cable that is wound in and out from the drum in response to powered rotation of the drum with an uppermost layer of working cable on the drum forming a working surface. A torque sensor in communication with the cable drum measures a torque applied to the cable drum due to tension on the working cable from a load. A drum height gauge is provided for measuring a height of the working surface of the cable on the cable drum. A processor receives the torque value from the torque sensor and the height of the working surface from the drum height gauge and computes a force applied to the length of working cable due to the load based on the torque and height of the working surface. The work performed by the cable may be calculated to assist in determining cable health.

Abstract: An interrogation data management system operates to manage implantable cardiac device interrogation data and reports. In one example the system generates a report including a reading physician note, a summary report, and an implantable cardiac device manufacturer's report. Some embodiments include smart routing, to automatically route interrogation data reports to medical professionals based on predetermined rules. The interrogation data management system interacts with the reading physician to formally review the interrogation data reports and to generate a reading physician note. The reading physician note includes the reading physician's findings/interpretations and conclusions. Other aspects are also described in this disclosure.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for inspection of containers including a circular star wheel conveyor having a plurality of intermediate annular inspection pockets and at least one non-inspection position. The method includes the steps of providing an outfeed stripper configured to engage a container disposed in the non-inspection position aligning the outfeed stripper inside the circumference of the star wheel conveyor and aligning the outfeed stripper with the conveyor and with the rotational path of the star wheel. Positioning an outfeed mechanism adjacent to the star wheel conveyor and operating the outfeed mechanism at a desired conveyor speed. Controlling the movement of the star wheel conveyor to align the container with the outfeed stripper and the outfeed mechanism only at the non-inspection position regardless of the number of angular inspection positions.

Abstract: A voice traffic gateway including: a voice traffic input, a voice traffic output, a first domain router, non-secure warning (NSW) tone application apparatus and a signalling filter. The input receives voice traffic including voice messages and signalling messages from a first traffic domain. The output delivers output voice messages and signalling messages to a second, different traffic domain. The first domain router routes voice messages to the NSW apparatus and routes signalling messages to the signalling filter. The NSW apparatus applies a NSW tone to a received voice message to form an output voice message. The signalling filter compares a feature of a received signalling message with a reference feature. The signalling filter will pass a signalling message if the signalling message feature is the same as the reference feature and will block a signalling message if the signalling message feature is not the same as the reference feature.
