  • Patent number: 10222550
Abstract: Methods and devices for a plasmonic circuit are described. A planar plasmonic device is configured with a controlling gate structure and when coupled to a complementary plasmonic device, a switching circuit can be realized. Also, by varying the properties of the complementary plasmonic device, the circuit can also operate as an amplifier. By use of combinations of this plasmonic circuit element, more advanced circuits and logic functions can be arrived at.

  • Patent number: 10202118
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to generating a speed plan for an autonomous vehicle. As an example, the vehicle is maneuvered in an autonomous driving mode along a route using pre-stored map information. This information identifies a plurality of keep clear regions where the vehicle should not stop but can drive through in the autonomous driving mode. Each keep clear region of the plurality of keep clear regions is associated with a priority value. A subset of the plurality of keep clear regions is identified based on the route. A speed plan for stopping the vehicle is generated based on the priority values associated with the keep clear regions of the subset. The speed plan identifies a location for stopping the vehicle. The speed plan is used to stop the vehicle in the location.

  • Patent number: 10107635
Abstract: The disclosure provides for a method for determining a route for passenger comfort and operating a vehicle according to the determined route. To start, a set of routes from a start location to an end location may be determined. Each route includes one or more portions. For each route of the set of routes, a total motion sickness value is determined based on a sway motion sickness value, a surge motion sickness value, and a heave motion sickness value for each of the given portions. The total motion sickness value for a route reflects a likelihood that a user will experience motion sickness while in a vehicle along the route. A route may then be selected from the set of routes based on the total motion sickness value of each route of the set of routes, and the vehicle may be maneuvered according to the selected route.

  • Publication number: 20180169281
Abstract: A delivery device is for intermittently delivering materials such as liquids or gels over a sustained period of time to a surface in a controlled way. The surface mountable delivery device is capable of delivering, an antimicrobial agent to protect surfaces from microbial contamination and/or to disinfect surfaces, e.g. door handles, push plates, hand rails, etc. as an aid in preventing and/or hindering the spread of infectious agents. The device uses a vertically lapped nonwoven material as the storage medium for the liquid or gel like materials within the device. A non-wicking liquid mediating layer controls transfer of liquid from a reservoir to a contact surface of the device to minimize liquid losses. An elastomeric contact liquid delivery layer is optimized for printability. Use of physical features at the device contact surface prevents pore occlusion on user contact and aids flow of liquid to the contact user.

  • Patent number: 9989371
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, and computer-readable media are provided for determining and assigning intermediate handoff checkpoints for low-resolution robot planning. In various implementations, a global path planner may identify a task to be performed by a robot in an environment. In various implementations, the global path planner may determine, based at least in part on one or more attributes of the environment or the task, an intermediate handoff checkpoint for the robot to reach by a scheduled time while the robot performs the task. In various implementations, the global path planner may determine that a measure of reactivity that would be attributable to the robot upon the robot being assigned the intermediate handoff checkpoint satisfies a reactivity threshold. In various implementations, the global path planner may provide, to a local path planner associated with the robot, data indicative of the intermediate handoff checkpoint.

  • Publication number: 20180129070
Abstract: A lens system comprises a first electro-active lens comprising a first focus sensor coupled to a first processor and a second electro-active lens comprising a second focus sensor coupled to a second processor. The first focus sensor periodically generates electromagnetic signals and detects electectromagnetic signals generated by the second focus sensor. The second focus sensor periodically generates electromagnetic signals and detects electectromagnetic signals generated by the second focus sensor. The first processor receives an indication of the second electromagnetic signals and, based on the received indication of the second electromagnetic signals, determines a relative convergence angle between the first and second electro-active lenses. Based on the determined relative convergence angle, the first processor determines a focal setting for the first electro-active lens and controls an electroactive element in the first electro-active lens, based on the determined focal setting.

  • Publication number: 20180056505
Abstract: Example embodiments may relate to robot-cloud interaction. In particular, a cloud-based service may receive a query from a first robotic system including sensor data, a request for instructions to carry out a task, and information associated with a configuration of the first robotic system. The cloud-based service may then identify stored data including a procedure previously used by a second robotic system to carry out the task and information associated with a configuration of the second robotic system. The cloud-based service may then generate instructions for the first robotic system to carry out the task based at least in part on the sensor data, the procedure used by the second robotic system to carry out the task, the information associated with the configuration of the first robotic system, and the information associated with the configuration of the second robotic system.

  • Publication number: 20180005311
Abstract: A domain name registrar may create a customizable universal purchase path for all customers purchasing a given product. The registrar may create and store modular cross sell components that each has material for at least one product offered for sale by the registrar. Thereafter, the registrar may receive a request for a product from a customer. The registrar may determine a probability the customer will complete the purchase if shown upgrades and/or additional products. If the probability is low (or lower than a predefined threshold) the registrar may complete the purchase before displaying additional upgrades and/or additional products to the customer. This will maximize the conversion rate. Alternatively, if the probability is high (or higher than a predefined threshold) the registrar may create final page markups using the modular cross sell components and collected content and display the final page markups to the customer before completing the purchase with the customer.

  • Publication number: 20170366443
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for addressing the complexity inherent in evaluating Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) systems by using meta-agent based adaptation in multi-agent systems. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a multi-agent based automated evaluation capability for distributed, SOA systems that can dynamically adapt to the non-deterministic nature of such systems to enable a continuous monitoring capability for detecting and circumventing operational errors as they arise.
