    Abstract: A sound damper and associated system are disclosed for damping sound. In embodiments, the sound damper is utilized within an automotive HVAC system. A passage wall defines an air passageway that transmits air. The sound damper includes a micro perforated panel (MPP) located within an opening formed into a passage wall. A back wall is spaced from the MPP, and a cavity is provided between the back wall and the MPP that is outside the air passageway. In embodiments, the MPP can be covered by a non-perforated film that is acoustically transparent and air impermeable.

    Abstract: A blower unit for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioner system (HVAC) of a vehicle. The blower unit includes an inside/outside air switching box. A switching door disposed in the inside/outside air switching box that is configured to selectively open and close an inside air introduction port and an outside air introduction port of the inside/outside air switching box. A fan is also located inside the inside/outside air switching box and blows air introduced into the inside/outside air switching box from the inside air introduction port and the outside air introduction port into the passenger compartment. A first plurality of ribs is provided on an inner surface of the switching door with a first perforated panel coupled to each of the first plurality of ribs. The first plurality of ribs and the first perforated panel reduce noise generated during an inside air introduction mode.

The blower assembly has a case defining an airflow inlet and an airflow outlet. An airflow generator is mounted within the case. Rotation of the airflow generator draws airflow into the case through the airflow inlet, directs airflow through the case, and pushes airflow out of the case through the airflow outlet. The motor is entirely within the case and is mounted on an upstream side of the airflow generator with respect to direction of airflow produced by the airflow generator through the case.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a serviceable fan shroud motor support structure which allows for repair or replacement of individual components of the vehicle cooling module such as the fan motor or fan blades, without removing and dismantling the entire vehicle cooling module. The fan shroud motor support structure includes at least one removable spoke, which once removed, would provide access to the portion of the fan assembly requiring service or replacement. Once the repair or replacement is complete, they simply snap the previously removed spokes back into place in order to complete the repair.
