  • Publication number: 20150335372
Abstract: An improved method of implanting a bone graft in a joint and tools for accomplishing the same is disclosed. The present invention relates generally to tools and methods useful for treating a sacroiliac joint. In one embodiment, the present invention is a method including the steps of: creating a first incision in the patient's skin proximal to the patient's sacroiliac joint; creating an incision in the patient's skin over the patient's ilium; inserting a first working channel into said first incision and spreading said sacroiliac joint with an inserted end of said first working channel; inserting a second working channel into said second incision and forming a hole in said ilium; creating a void in said sacroiliac joint; inserting a graft into said void; and inserting a joint fusing device into said ilium and said sacrum.

  • Publication number: 20150250612
Abstract: An improved method of fusing the sacroiliac joint and tools for accomplishing the same is disclosed. In one embodiment, the present invention is a method that uses an intra-articular joint fusion device for connecting the sacrum and ilium that includes creating a first incision in the patient's skin proximal to the patient's sacroiliac joint, inserting a surgical channel tool into the incision from the patient's posterior, creating a void in the sacroiliac joint, inserting a fusion implant into the void, the fusion implant having at least one fixation element for engagement with bone tissue in the articular surfaces of the sacrum and the ilium, and driving the fusion implant into the void such that the at least one fixation element engages with bone tissue in an articular surface of at least one of the sacrum and ilium, and the fusion implant fixes relative positions of the sacrum and ilium.

  • Patent number: 9095145
Abstract: A method and system for the direct injection of a concentrated additive is disclosed. In one aspect, the concentrated additive comprises asparaginase. Because dilution of asparaginase in chlorinated drinking water can reduce the activity of the enzyme thereby making the enzyme less effective the direct injection of the enzyme into a dough can increase the acrylamide reduction in food products.

  • Publication number: 20150181019
Abstract: The invention generally relates to systems, devices, and methods for testing communication lines. In certain aspects, the invention provides systems and devices that include a digital/analog converter configured to operate with a computer processor and memory to send or receive an analog signal over a communication line that includes a plurality of signals having known frequencies. Inbound receiving sub-systems or devices sample the analog signal and measure a quality of the sampled, digital signal to evaluate the communication line. The key differentiator is the recognition that the human mouth and ear are intrinsically analog without encryption. By locating the test device as close to the user as possible, this system incorporates testing of complex communication streams including numerous variables and transforms (e.g. encryption, Analog to digital, Voice over IP, packet switching, ATM, SONET). Ultimately, it provides a simple interface to convert qualitative analysis to quantitative (numerical) analysis.

  • Patent number: 8997946
Abstract: An electro-mechanical brake assembly comprising a brake disk stack having a center axis; and a plurality electro-mechanical actuators for applying braking pressure to the brake disk stack. The actuators are circumferentially arranged around the center axis, and each actuator includes a housing, a linearly movable ram, a screw for linearly moving the ram, a nut mounted for rotation in the housing and operatively engaged with the screw such that rotation of the nut effects linear movement of the screw for urging the ram into forceful engagement with the brake disk stack, an electric motor for rotating the nut, and an anti-rotation device for preventing rotation of the screw relative to the housing when the nut is rotated to effect linear movement of the screw. The foregoing arrangement provides for greater stroke than prior art actuators without sacrificing durability and performance.

  • Publication number: 20140242164
Abstract: Nutraceutical compositions for improved administration of important phytochemicals from pomegranate to a human or animal. More particularly, enables oral or enteral dosage forms containing phytochemicals from pomegranate for administering on a routine basis. In at least one instance the natural contents of a pomegranate are encapsulated into a pill form or concentrated juice that provides for more efficient administration than eating a pomegranate but contains the same key ingredients present in the fruit. Enables the recipient to receive the benefits of the fruit but allows for the dosages to be taken in pill or concentrated juice form. Composition is chemically similar or equal to a natural pomegranate but is in a powder, pill or concentrated liquid form.
