Abstract: A respiratory apparatus including an adapter assembly and a catheter assembly. The adapter assembly includes ventilator, respiratory, access, and flush ports. The access port includes a conduit defining a passageway. The flush port projects from the conduit and is fluidly open to the passageway at an outlet. The catheter assembly includes a catheter assembled to a fitting. The fitting includes a hub and a tube, with the tube defining an exterior surface, an interior surface forming a lumen, a circumferential groove in the exterior surface, and a plurality of apertures fluidly open to the lumen and the circumferential groove. The tube is sized to be slidably received within the passageway such that upon final assembly, a fluid pathway is formed between the flush port and a distal end of the catheter via the flush port outlet, the circumferential groove, the plurality of apertures, and the lumen.

Abstract: A method of identifying a reset condition includes the steps of determining if a stored value is equal to a specified value, executing a first mode if the stored value is not equal to the specified value, and executing a second mode if the stored value is equal to the specified value. The second mode also includes the step of setting the stored value to a value different than the specified value.

Abstract: A continuous positive airway pressure system features a housing forming an airway chamber, and an air pressure inlet and an air pressure outlet. The housing further defines internally a pair of tapered air jets, and a pair of tapered air receivers. The air receivers are located downstream of the air supply jets and disposed coaxially with respective ones of the air supply jets. Each receiver has a taper in an opposite direction to the direction of the taper of the air supply jets. A pair of nasal prongs is located downstream of the air receiving jets.

Abstract: A pressure driver for a ventilation system comprises a gas source, an inspiration flow control valve and a patient pressure sensor to form a closed loop control system. The inspiration flow control valve may be mounted within a housing and is operative to open and close in response to patient pressure measurements in order to produce a desired pressure at the patient. The pressure driver may further include a mixture control for allowing selective adjustment of the oxygen concentration in pressurized gas delivered to the patient. An oxygen mixer is connected between the gas source and the mixture control and is operative to deliver the desired mixture of oxygen and air to the inspiration flow control valve for delivery to the patient. An oxygen sensor monitors the oxygen concentration in the gas provided by the oxygen mixer.

Abstract: A medical ventilator includes a pressure generator for increasing a pressure of gas that produces heat during the operation thereof. A heat sink spaced from the pressure generator is provided for absorbing heat from the pressure generator. A bacteria filter requiring heating in excess of an ambient temperature for the effective operation thereof is coupled in thermal communication with the heat sink. A heat pipe is coupled in thermal communication with the heat sink and the pressure generator for conveying at least part of heat produced by the pressure generator to the bacteria filter via the heat sink.

Abstract: A medical ventilator includes a pressure generator for increasing a pressure of gas that produces heat during the operation thereof. The channel is adapted to frictionally engage the tubing member. The back side includes a layer of adhesive for adhering the retainer clip to the patient such as to the patient's skin. An interface assembly for delivering gas from a gas source to a patient includes a user interface, at least one tubing member extending from the user interface, and at least one of the retainer clips configured to anchor the tubing member to the patient.

Abstract: An integrated nasal mask is adapted for delivering gas to a patient and comprises a mask body and a pair of elongate nostril-engaging stems. The mask body is generally triangularly shaped and includes a nasal opening sized and configured to substantially envelope a patient's nose. The nasal opening opens to a nasal cavity. The nostril-engaging stems extend outwardly from the nasal cavity. Each one of the stems defines a fluid passageway for delivering gas to the patient's nose and for allowing discharge of exhalation gasses during the exhalation phase of the breathing cycle.

Abstract: One aspect of the present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing two or more active agents that when taken together can be used to treat, e.g., menopause, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, or cognitive disorders. The first component of the pharmaceutical composition is a sedative eszopiclone. The second component of the pharmaceutical composition is trans 4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-N-methyl-1-napthalenamine or trans 4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-napthalenamine. The present invention also relates to a method of treating menopause, perimenopause, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and cognitive disorders.

Each nozzle is provided with a deflector portion or nozzle plate for directing an upward traveling fluid in an outward direction. Furthermore, the deflector portion may be provided with steps or vanes for altering and varying the flow characteristics of a fluid spray pattern exiting the nozzle. In this manner, different portions of the fluid spray pattern may be projected to varying distances so that the fluid may cover an area having generally straight boundaries and having one or more right angles. Furthermore, the fluid spray pattern may be used to cover a triangular area. In this manner, overspray is reduced. The areas covered by independent nozzles of the spray head may be proximally located by their arrangement within the spray head so as to minimize overlap of the areas.

Abstract: A pressure driver for a ventilation system comprises a gas source, an inspiration flow control valve and a patient pressure sensor to form a closed loop control system. The inspiration flow control valve may be mounted within a housing and is operative to open and close in response to patient pressure measurements in order to produce a desired pressure at the patient. Abstract: Provided is a high frequency oscillating ventilator comprising a housing assembly, a linear actuator, a linear coil, a piston mounted on a pushrod, a diaphragm dividing a housing into a first and second side and having an opening formed on the second side that is fluidly connected to the patient's airway for delivering gas thereto. The linear actuator is fixedly mounted to the housing assembly and has a linear coil coaxially disposed therewithin. A pushrod supports the linear coil on the linear actuator to allow relative axially sliding therebetween. The piston is directly mounted to the diaphragm such that reciprocation thereof as effectuated by the linear coil cooperating with the linear actuator alternately produces positive and negative pressure waves in the gas in the patient's airway.

Abstract: Provided is a universal interface adapted for providing continuous positive airway pressure to a patient when the interface is used with a standard ventilator. The interface is configured to operate at a supply pressure no greater than about 120 centimeters of H2O in order to deliver pressure to the patient of up to about 15 cm of H2O at a flow rate of up to about 12 liters/minute. The universal interface may comprise an interface body having a space pair of breathing passageways intersecting a corresponding of supply passageways. Each one of the breathing passageways is comprised of a patient passageway and an exhalation passageway. Each one of the supply passageways includes a jet venturi having a taper portion. Each one of the exhalation passageways includes a taper portion which tapers outwardly along a direction from the patient passageway toward the exhalation passageway.

The brush arm has a brush portion and a resilient portion slidably inserted into the opening of the squeezable bottle for providing an urging force against an inner wall of the nozzle head, wherein a dispensing channel is formed between the resilient portion of the brush arm and the inner wall of the nozzle head for allowing the washing solution to pass therethrough. The brush member is provided at the brush portion of the brush arm. Therefore, when a squeezing force is applied on the squeezable bottle, the washing solution is released to the brush member through the dispensing channel of the nozzle head.

The brush arm has a brush portion and a retention portion slidably inserted into the opening of the solution container, wherein a dispensing channel is formed between the retention portion of the brush arm and the inner wall of the nozzle head for allowing the solution to pass therethrough. The brush member is provided at the brush portion of the brush arm. Therefore, when a compression force is applied on the solution container, the solution is released to the brush member through the dispensing channel of the nozzle head.
