  • Publication number: 20170188857
Abstract: A blood pressure gauge for monitoring the blood pressure values of a patient in a darkened or low light environment. The blood pressure gauge is selectively illuminated when an internal air pressure within an attached blood pressure cuff is first detected or after it has reached a predetermined threshold value as determined by a pressure transducer in the blood pressure gauge. The blood pressure gauge is illuminated by a plurality of light emitting diodes or by plurality of components comprised of photoluminescent material. The blood pressure cuff is inflated by the actuation of a bulb attached to the blood pressure gauge. The bulb is actuated or squeezed against a stationary hand grip portion of the blood pressure gauge so as to provide a greater compressive force and deliver a larger volume of air to the blood pressure cuff.

  • Publication number: 20170156912
Abstract: A particle filled neck brace is used for immobilizing the neck of a patient and includes a single handedly operable vacuum hand pump disposed on the neck brace, which pump is communicated to the interior of the neck brace. After the neck brace is secured around the neck of the patient, the vacuum hand pump is manipulated to remove air from the neck brace to form a rigid mold about the patient's neck. The vacuum hand pump has a one way directional valve so that the neck brace remains in a rigid configuration for as long as the neck brace is applied to the patient. The vacuum hand pump also includes a plurality of springs which assist the user in completing a vacuum pump cycle. To release the neck brace, the user opens a release valve which allows ambient air to refill the neck brace and increase its flexibility.

  • Publication number: 20170156913
Abstract: A particle filled neck brace is used for immobilizing the neck and chin of a patient and includes a vacuum pump disposed on the neck brace, which pump is communicated to the interior of the neck brace. After the neck brace is secured around the neck and chin of the patient, the vacuum pump is manipulated to remove air from the neck brace to form a rigid mold about the patient's neck and chin. The vacuum pump has a one way directional valve so that the neck brace remains in a rigid configuration for as long as the neck brace is applied to the patient. The neck brace also specifically forms a rigid mold over the patient's chin so as to immobilize the patient as well as to provide a comfortable fit without inducing further stress onto the patient.

  • Publication number: 20170007797
Abstract: A collapsible joint for use with a nebulizer includes a housing connected to the source of carrier gas flow, an extensible and flexible airway and an extension connected to a patient applicator. A swivel joint for use with a nebulizer includes a swivel housing, a rotating airway pivoted in the swivel housing about a first axis of rotation; and an airway base coupling coupled to the swivel housing rotatable with respect to the swivel housing about a second axis of rotation. The first and second axes of rotation are mutually orthogonal at least in part to each other.

  • Publication number: 20160271357
Abstract: A nebulizer apparatus for delivering medication in the form of an aerosol to a patient. The apparatus includes a medication reservoir for receiving liquid medication, a face mask for direct attachment to the medication reservoir for delivering aerosol to a patient, an attachment to a nebulizer machine, a mouthpiece, and hosing to inter-connect the nebulizer components. The medication reservoir of the nebulizer apparatus includes rapid injection ports for the addition of medication to the medication reservoir, and is connected to either the face mask or to a T-junction connector element.

  • Publication number: 20160038703
Abstract: A device for securing an oral airway device in place with a patient's oral cavity. The device comprises a V-clamp which is slid along its upper edge in the direction of the oral airway device. After making contact with the oral airway device with the V-clamp, the user may choose to manipulate a screw disposed on the device and bring its corresponding distal end into physical contact with the opposing surface or side of the oral airway device, thereby creating a compressive force on the oral airway device. Alternatively, the device may comprise a V-clamp on a first portion which is disposed on a sliding track. The first portion may be manipulated with the addition of a screw in order to create a compressive force on the oral airway device. Alternatively, the device may comprise two rotating portions coupled together via a pivot point.

  • Publication number: 20110070805
Abstract: An electronic toy for users comprising a plurality of keys, each one of the keys corresponding to a prerecorded or downloadable audio signal such as a laugh which is played through a speaker within the toy when selected. The toy also comprises means for recording the audio input of a user to memory microchip or other electronic storage device housed within the toy. A subset of the plurality of keys corresponds to a like number of permanent non-erasable audio signals that are played through the speaker whenever one of that subset is selected. Another subset of the plurality of keys corresponds to a number of temporary re-recordable audio inputs that are provided by the user. The toy also comprises an effect dial which a user may use to alter the frequencies or other characteristic of the audio signal reproduced through the speaker.

  • Patent number: 6719711
Abstract: An inflatable splint comprises a plurality of air chambers divided by latitudinal and longitudinal divisions. The latitudinal division comprises perforated latitudinal welds which divide the splint into portions, or rows of air chambers. Each portion is detachable or separable from an adjacent portion and adapted to wrap around a section of a body part independently of the other portion. The splint is bendable at the latitudinal divisions to accommodate joints and various bends in an injured limb. Each portion is capable of forming a U-structure to retain a section of an injured limb. The latitudinal divisions enable each portion to bend away from each other or toward each other, in which case one U-structure may be disposed at least in part within another U-structure. Adjustable fasteners are provided for each portion. A method for securing an injured limb is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5092457
Abstract: An oil change kit including an oil impervious box dimensioned to hold a container or containers constituting the quantity of oil for a single engine oil change, e.g. 5 quarts. The box includes a top closure which is contiguous with the side and end walls and is foldable into three different conditions, 1) to display part of the oil container or containers, 2) to define a funnel-like opening for receiving waste oil and 3) foldable to seal the box with waste oil ready for disposal. Accessories contained in the kit and stored in the volume not taken up by the new motor oil containers is a wipeup cloth, a pair of disposable gloves and a universal wrench.
