  • Publication number: 20100319060
Abstract: A method and system for discovering dependencies, configurations and utilizations among IT resources are disclosed. A discovery team writes a prediscovery script without requesting credentials and sends it to a system administrator (SA) who already has necessary credentials to execute the prediscovery script. Then, the SA reviews the prediscovery script and executes the prediscovery script on a target server. While or after executing the prediscovery script, the target server generates a result of an execution of the prediscovery script and provides the result to an analysis system. The analysis system analyzes and parses the result and generates a user-friendly data (e.g., graph or spreadsheet) that represents the result. Then, the analysis system provides the user-friendly data to the discovery team. The analysis system does not require credentials and does not directly communicate with the target server except receiving the result of the executed prediscovery script from the target server.

  • Publication number: 20100312873
Abstract: Ways are disclosed for determining a utilization of a server or group of servers. In one embodiment, a method includes determining a disk utilization factor (DUF) that indicates a utilization of one or more mass-storage disks of some server; determining a processor utilization factor (PUF) that indicates a utilization of one or more processors running on the first server; and based on the DUF and PUF deriving a server-utilization factor (SUF) that indicates a level of utilization of the first server, which includes incorporating one or more of (1) power-usage data or (2) financial-cost data that are associated with each of the disks and processors.

  • Publication number: 20100040055
Abstract: In one example, a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) combines a value identifying itself with a cable modem Media Access Control (MAC) address stored in a provisioning request. The CMTS then relays the modified provisioning request to a provisioning server, which analyzes the value to identify a CMTS associated with the cable modem MAC address. Then, to regulate cable modem cloning or for other reasons, the provisioning server selects provisioning information for the cable modem according to the identified CMTS-MAC address association.

  • Publication number: 20100043041
Abstract: In one embodiment, a cloned cable modem detector is configured to assemble a table associating cable modem physical addresses to Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTSs) according to provisioning requests forwarded from the CMTSs. When one of the provisioning requests associates a cable modem physical address with a different CMTS than an existing association in the table, the detector outputs an indication of cable modem cloning.

  • Patent number: 7644922
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for operating a gaming terminal where the gaming terminal cabinet itself is an active feature or element of the wagering game. The method and system of the invention involve a gaming terminal cabinet that is transformable from a primary external configuration to a secondary external configuration. The transformation of the gaming terminal cabinet may be based on an outcome of a basic wagering game, a bonus wagering game, or both. The secondary external configuration may involve a single transformation or it may involve multiple transformations. At the end of the wagering game, the gaming terminal cabinet may be transformed back into the primary external configuration. The transformation of the gaming terminal cabinet may also be used to attract the attention of passersby when the gaming terminal is idle to thereby generate interest in the gaming terminal.

  • Publication number: 20090292795
Abstract: In one embodiment, a router is configured to relay a provisioning request originating from a remote network device to a remote provisioning server. When the router receives back a provisioning response including provisioning information identifying a first remotely stored configuration file, the router is configured to modify the provisioning information such that the modified provisioning information no longer identifies the first remotely stored configuration file. The router then relays the provisioning reply, which may identify a second different configuration file, to the remote network device.

  • Publication number: 20090287739
Abstract: A system for scheduling, changing, and maintaining an outage schedule includes a data entry module adapted to allow a user to enter data pertaining to an outage, a pre-defined database containing transaction rules to define transaction flows, a processing module, and a display module. The processing module is adapted to process the data entered into the data entry module and the transaction rules provided in the pre-defined database. The display module receives processed data from the processing module, transforms the processed data into visual information representative of the processed data, and displays the visual information on a display of a computing device.

  • Publication number: 20090237921
Abstract: A lamp including a base, a bendable neck and a lamp head, an outer surface of the lamp covered by a pliable sheath. The lamp further including a plurality of switches and a plurality of light sources, such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The plurality of switches are visually concealed by the pliable sheath. A first actuation of at least one switch of the plurality of switches activates a white light mode of operation and a second actuation of at least one switch of the plurality of switches activates a color-phasing mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 7464113
Abstract: A data recovery methodology with bound transaction data loss is described in which a database operator is allowed to set a bound that limits the number of transactions that can be lost. Transactions are placed in a buffer to be sent asynchronously to the standby system and synchronized based on the predetermined bound and on the number of transactions currently in the buffer.

  • Publication number: 20080286879
Abstract: Test device for detection and visual indication of a specific analyte in a liquid sample such as a body fluid. The device includes a biodegradable housing, a test strip and a lid. The device is configured for placement in concentrate or dilute test liquid that is for example contained in a vessel. One end of the test strip wicks the liquid being tested into the housing and across a control site and test site which provide visual indication that the device is working correctly and whether the analyte being tested is present in the test liquid. An antibody specific to the antigen being tested may be provided on the test strip. The test device for example detects specific antigens in dilute urine, such that the device may be placed in a toilet bowl after urination.

  • Patent number: 7375984
Abstract: A power converter circuit includes an input switching circuit, an isolation circuit, a rectifier circuit that includes a least a pair of rectifiers, and an output circuit. The input switching circuit receives a first voltage and generates an AC voltage. The isolation circuit has a primary side configured to receive the AC voltage from the input switching circuit and a secondary side. The secondary side communicates with the rectifier circuit and the output circuit. The output circuit includes a secondary inductor and a diode. The secondary inductor communicates with a primary inductor and either the rectifier circuit or the secondary side. The diode communicates with the primary inductor, the secondary inductor, and the rectifier circuit. The secondary inductor inhibits current flow through the rectifier circuit and forces current flow through the diode when no voltage is applied to the primary side of the isolation circuit.

  • Publication number: 20080111496
Abstract: A circuit is used for driving a plurality of lamps, such as Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps (CCFLs). The lamps are paired to form a plurality of pairs of lamps. Each of the plurality of pairs of lamps has two lamps which are coupled to each other in series. The plurality of pairs of lamps are coupled in parallel. The circuit comprises a switch circuit, a transformer, and a plurality of balance chokes. The switch circuit is used for converting a DC electric power into a first AC electric power. The transformer has a primary winding and a secondary winding. The primary winding of the transformer is coupled to the switch circuit for receiving said first AC electric power and energizing the secondary winding to generate a second AC electric power from the secondary winding to energize the plurality of lamps. Each of the balance chokes includes a first winding and a second winding.
