  • Patent number: 6276302
Abstract: An aquarium comprises a container, a dividing plate and a filtration system. The container includes a main cavity for containing water and live underwater creatures, and a bottom cavity below the main cavity. The dividing plate separates the main cavity from the bottom cavity and provides a barrier against fluid communication between the main cavity and the bottom cavity along all but a small fraction of the length and depth of the container. The filtration system communicates by fluid with the bottom cavity for intake of polluted water and with the main cavity for outgo of purified water after the polluted water has been purified by the filtration system.

  • Patent number: 6076710
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for distribution of viscous materials such as concrete slurry or grout mixtures onto target surfaces, the apparatus connectable to a transfer pipe leading from an external pumping mechanism. The method and apparatus includes a generally rectangular chamber having walls providing an upper wall attached to a conduit, the conduit connectable to a transfer pipe by a pivotable annulus or ring. The pivotable annulus provides rotation of the chamber in approximately 360.degree. range of motion in relation to the transfer pipe. As the concrete slurry or grout mixtures are pumped through the chamber by an external pumping mechanism, the walls direct the viscous materials out through an outlet, formed in a lower portion of the front wall, the outlet having an opening shaped for directing the viscous materials toward target surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5902509
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for inductively heating a refractory shaped member provided with an internal space, particularly for a metallurgical vessel, enable as rapid, uniform heating of the shaped member as possible. An inner inductor is introduced into the internal space, the shaped member is heated from the interior by such inductor, and the inductor then is removed from the internal space.

Abstract: A refractory discharge device includes an immersion nozzle formed substantially of carbon-bonded magnesium oxide or carbon-bonded aluminum oxide or fused quartz. The immersion nozzle has therethrough a discharge passage and has an outer surface and an outlet end. An external reinforcement member is formed entirely separately from the immersion nozzle from a zirconium oxide material that is directly bonded without any carbon and by burning at a high temperature. The external reinforcement member is attached to the outer surface of the outer surface of the immersion nozzle at a position such that during use the external reinforcement member will extend above and below a casting powder covering of molten metal into which the refractory discharge device will be immersed.
