  • Publication number: 20120293304
Abstract: Systems and methods for an identification capable communication device are provided. The communication device or line is registered or associated with a primary unique ID that identifies a person. Furthermore, the unique ID is associated with a secondary unique ID (e.g., biometric information of that person, or a unique identification code only known by that person). The combination of the primary and the secondary IDs is registered with a server system that is capable of verifying the two IDs when a communication connection is initiated from the registered communication device or line.

  • Publication number: 20120241602
Abstract: A method of screening a sample for the presence of one or more known compounds of interest is disclosed. A fragmentation device is repeatedly switched between a fragmentation mode of operation and a non-fragmentation mode of operation. A determination is made whether a candidate parent ion of interest is present in a non-fragmentation data set and whether one or more corresponding fragment ions of interest are present in a fragmentation data set. A further determination is made to check if the candidate parent ion of interest and the one or more corresponding fragment ions of interest have substantially similar elution or retention times and/or ion mobility drift times.

  • Patent number: 8053933
Abstract: A switching device for controlling the supply of power from a supply to a load comprises a solid-state switch arranged in parallel with a relay of normally closed type. The solid-state switch and the relay are arranged in series with the load and the power supply. The switch also comprises a control adapted to connect the power supply to the load by applying an activation signal to the solid-state switch to cause it to conduce, then de-energizing the relay and then removing the activation signal to the solid-state switch in that order. The control is also adapted to disconnect the power supply from the load by applying an activation signal to the solid-state switch to cause it to conduct, then energizing the relay and then removing activation signal to the solid-state switch in that order. A corresponding method of operation is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7862526
Abstract: A cervical traction assembly whereby the user can exert a variable load on the cervical spine and receive a sensory feedback when the traction is at or within range of a target load. The assembly includes a head harness wrapped around the forehead of the user that is attached to a traction bar connected to a load line assembly that passes through a direction reversal pulley and terminates with force straps actuated by the user's legs. The load line assembly includes a spring force scale that includes a control assembly that allows the user to set a target applied load and receive sensory feedback in the form of varying audible signals as the user applied load approaches, meets and exceeds a target load range.

  • Publication number: 20100257946
Abstract: A load indicator comprises a load bearing assembly of first and second load bearing members (23, 22) connected together to bear a lateral load applied to the first member (23), the first load bearing member defining a cavity (25) with the second load bearing member such that it is frangible above an indicator load, and the cavity (25) containing an indicator liquid which escapes from the cavity once the first load bearing member is fractured by said load. The load bearing members (22, 23) comprise cylindrical members arranged concentrically with the outer member (23) having a portion of reduced thickness to render it frangible and to define the cavity (25). The cavity (25) includes an internal volume within the second load bearing member (22). The load indicator may be configured as a load bearing pin to connect two components.

  • Patent number: 7745118
Abstract: The present invention is an improved method of resequencing DNA using microarrays to rapidly map and identify SNPs, deletions and amplification events present in the genome of an organism. The method is performed by hybridizing a reference and a test genome to two separate arrays with each array exhibiting a specific intensity pattern. The intensity differences between the reference and the test genome arrays are used to produce a mutation map. The mapped differences are resequenced on a set of resequencing arrays to identify specific genetic mutations.
