Abstract: An input random access memory (RAM) module of a fast Fourier transform (FFT) engine of a DVB receiver is used to store, during a first time period, delayed versions of an input signal that includes a first orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) symbol and a cyclic prefix therefor received at the receiver, and samples for a second OFDM symbol to be demodulated using the FFT engine during a second time period. Delayed versions of the input signal are stored in the input RAM module of the FFT engine in a first-in-first-out (FIFO) fashion for signal acquisition and for FFT processing. Similarly, an output RAM module of the FFT engine is used to store moving averages of an autocorrelation of the input signal with its cyclic prefix computed over presumed guard intervals and over multiple symbols.

Abstract: A guiding device guides, in a main body of a liquid ejection apparatus, a flexible passage forming member having a passage therein in a predetermined routing direction while curving the passage forming member. The guiding device includes a holding member. The holding member is engaged with a curved section of the passage forming member, and holds the curved section in an undeformable manner in the apparatus main body. The holding member guides the passage forming member in the routing direction. Thus, the guiding device is capable of efficiently routing passage forming members while bending the members in a body of a liquid ejection apparatus.

Abstract: A diagnostic tool for testing an integrated circuit device directs a beam of laser energy to stimulate at least a portion of the device. In one mode, electromagnetic waves from said device may be detected at the same time in response to the stimulation. A processor collects image data and determines as a function of the collected image data whether the device has a defect. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A terrestrial C/A code GPS receiver system digitally samples, filters and stores a segment of 11 half chips of the received composite as a binary number and multiplexes this number for parallel correlation with each of a series of multibit code replicas for the satellites to be tracked. Each of the time delay specific correlation products are accumulated in a cell of a memory matrix so that at least twenty two delays for each satellite may be evaluated each code period providing fast reacquisition, even within a city intersection, as well as correction of multipath tracking and multipath interference. All cells of the memory matrix may be used for an acquisition of a single satellite in about 4 ms. Two satellite tracking, in addition to altitude hold, uses cross track hold alternating with clock hold to update the cross track estimate. Single satellite tracking uses cross track and clock hold together. Navigation data is updated with detected changes in motion including turns.

Abstract: A touch-sensitive pad capable of detecting depressing pressure aims to detect different depressing pressure of a user's finger to confirm a depressing action. It includes at least a touch-sensitive pad, a piezoelectric ceramic pad and a voltage detection circuit. The touch-sensitive pad can detect and get a signal resulting from touching and moving of the finger. The piezoelectric ceramic pad generates voltage alterations upon receiving different depressing pressure of the finger that are determined by a microprocessor of the voltage detection circuit to confirm the depressing action of an operator, thereby moving of the cursor and input of an icon key can be controlled.

Abstract: An input method with a large keyboard table displaying on a small screen employs a cursor controller to display the larger keyboard table on a small screen includes at least the following steps of: determining the position of a cursor on a keyboard table through the position of a finger on the cursor controller; determining the display area of the keyboard table through the position of the cursor on the keyboard table and displaying on a screen; determining movement of the cursor or moving the keyboard table inverse according to the position and moving direction of the cursor, and altering the display area; marking overlapping characters of the keyboard table and the cursor; and depressing to confirm input of the marked characters. Through this method convenience of input operation improves and data entry can be done faster.

Abstract: A method for selecting functional tables through a touch-sensitive button key aims to facilitate selection and execution of an item on a functional table according to the pressing location of a user's finger on a touch-sensitive pad. The method includes at least the following steps: mapping areas of a touch-sensitive pad against different menus; displaying a menu of a corresponding functional table when touching of a finger on a selected area of the touch-sensitive pad is detected; changing a selected and marked item when the finger moves on the selected area; changing the menu displayed on the screen to another menu when the finger moves to another area; and executing the function of a selection item when it is executable. Thus users can select items easier on the opened functional table.

Abstract: A GPS car navigation system derives GPS position update information from motion of the car along the actual track. Turns along the track are detected when they actually occur and are compared with the predicted turns so that the time and position at the actual turn can be used to update the then current GPS derived position of the vehicle. Updating position information with actual turn data improves the accuracy of GPS navigation especially during single satellite navigation.

Abstract: A miniaturized keyboard clusters character input groups operable by one finger into an integrated single key. It has a keyboard base to hold a plurality of the integrated single keys. Each integrated single key has a touch sensitive pad and is divided into at least one segment. Each segment corresponds to a character. Thus the character input groups operable by one finger are clustered on one integrated single key. The integrated single key can generate different input characters depending on different finger positions. Hence the keyboard may be shrunk, and the number of keys and input error can be reduced.

Abstract: A composite cursor input method that moves a cursor through at least two different ratios includes at least the steps of: 1. getting a cursor position on a screen; 2. getting a displacement signal; 3. jointly calculating a displacement value; and 4. moving the cursor on the screen. The method can move the cursor rapidly.

Abstract: A back-loading input device for electronic equipment includes at least a chassis, an operation interface on the backside of the chassis and a screen to display a keyboard table corresponding to the operation interface to be referred by users to do input operation. Thereby input operation can be done rapidly and the size of the electronic equipment can be shrunk.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of making a semiconductor structure, wherein the method includes forming an interlayer dielectric (ILD) layer on a semiconductor layer, forming a conductive plating enhancement layer (PEL) on the ILD, patterning the ILD and PEL, depositing a seed layer into the pattern formed by the ILD and PEL, and then plating copper on the seed layer. The PEL serves to decrease the resistance across the wafer so to facilitate the plating of the copper. The PEL preferably is an optically transparent and conductive layer.

Abstract: An ink supplying and collecting apparatus includes a case, ink cartridges detachably attached to the case, and a collecting container detachably attached to the case. The ink cartridges supply ink to a recording head of a printer via ink supply tubes. The collecting container collects ink drained from the recording head via an ink drain tube. The case is located outside of and is separate from the printer. Thus, the sizes and shapes of the ink cartridges and the collecting container can be freely designed.

Abstract: A liquid retainer support is arranged in a body of a liquid ejection apparatus in an immovable manner or in such a manner as to allow reciprocation of the liquid retainer support. A liquid retainer is secured to the liquid retainer support. A liquid retainer chamber is defined in the liquid retainer in such a manner as to allow communication between the liquid retainer chamber and the atmospheric air. A liquid supply system of the liquid ejection apparatus is manufactured by blocking the liquid retainer chamber from the atmospheric air and connecting a liquid passage defining body to the liquid retainer for supplying liquid from a liquid reservoir to the liquid retainer chamber. The liquid passage defining body includes a liquid passage that communicates with the liquid reservoir. In this manner, the cost for manufacturing the liquid supply system is reduced.

Abstract: A first code is programmed into a memory of an image-formation device consumable item, outside of an image-formation device. Upon insertion of the image-formation device consumable item into the image-formation device, it is detected that the memory of the consumable item has programmed therein the first code. The image-formation device determines whether the first code is identical to a second code programmed into a memory of the image-formation device. Where the first code is identical to the second code, the consumable item is allowed to be used by the image-formation device to form images on media.

Abstract: An acceleration switch and method therefor includes providing a conductive substrate and an insulating cap. A recessed area is formed in the insulating cap. An insulating layer is disposed on the conductive substrate. A conductive layer is disposed on the insulating layer. The conductive layer is etched to form a cantilever beam and an electrically isolated island. The insulating layer is etched around the cantilever beam to free the cantilever beam to move. Contacts are disposed on the cantilever beam and in the recessed area such that the contacts are able to electrically contact each other upon application of an acceleration to the switch. The cap is bonded to the conductive layer to hermetically seal the cantilever beam.

Abstract: A bi-layer silicon electrode and its method of fabrication is described. The electrode of the present invention comprises a lower polysilicon film having a random grain microstructure, and an upper polysilicon film having a columnar grain microstructure.
