  • Patent number: 11561452
Abstract: Optical switch trees are commonly used to route light from one input channel to multiple possible output channels one at a time. As the number of output channels increases, the number of wire-bonding pads increases and the drive electronics becomes more complicated. The optical switch tree comprises an array of optical switches arranged in a plurality of rows of optical switches, each connected by a row bus, which are connected to a first multiplexer and a common power source; and a plurality of columns of optical switches, each connected by a column bus, which are connected to a second multiplexer and a common ground. A control processor selects one of the plurality of columns of optical switches to connect to the common ground, and selects one of the plurality of rows of optical switches to connect to the common power source, thereby selecting a single optical switch in the array of optical switches to activate.

  • Patent number: 11510391
Abstract: A collection system for monitoring conditions of a rack of animal cages. An animal caging system including a plurality of animal cages removably connected to an exhaust. A collection media cartridge is slidably received within an opening in a collection media housing dock. The collection media housing dock is positioned between an exhaust plenum of the rack an exhaust air inlet unit. Collection media is removably received in the collection media cartridge. Exhaust air dust clings to the collection media as exhaust from the animal cages flows along the length of the collection media. The collection media cartridge can be removed from the collection media housing dock and the collection media can be removed for sampling the exhaust.

  • Patent number: 11464427
Abstract: A custom foot orthotic and a system and a method for designing of a custom foot orthotic. The method includes: receiving 3D scan data of the patient's foot; receiving plantar pressure scan data of the patient's foot; establishing a desirable pressure distribution; generating an underfoot elevation profile relative to an elevation profile of the patient's foot in the 3D scan data; determining an internal density profile of the resulting foot orthotic 3D model by superimposing the desirable pressure distribution over the resulting foot orthotic 3D model and reducing or increasing density in regions of the foot orthotic 3D model based on the difference between an expected pattern of support and the desirable pressure distribution; and outputting the 3D model of the custom foot orthotic.

  • Publication number: 20220188740
Abstract: A distributed collaboration interface interacts with a workflow system. A job of the workflow system comprises a series of tasks. Each task of a single job may be performed via the collaboration interface by multiple principals. When a first principal is performing a first task of the job through a first instance of the distributed collaboration interface, second principals performing second tasks of the job may view but may not modify the first task. Moreover, second instances of the distributed collaboration interface associated with the second principals update in real time to lock the first task from being modified by the second principals as soon as the first principal obtains control of the first task within the first instance of the collaboration interface.

  • Publication number: 20220163823
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and architecture for thermal waveguide-based phase shifters which improve thermal efficiency by having multi-pass waveguides arranged under the heating element in a serpentine fashion, with the waveguides having mismatched propagation constants. The combination allows for an increase in phase shift without increasing the length or the power consumption of the resistive heating element by increasing the total length of waveguide being heated by a singular heating element.

  • Publication number: 20220148864
Abstract: In various embodiments, eroded sputtering targets are partially refurbished by spray-depositing particles of target material to at least partially fill certain regions (e.g., regions of deepest erosion) without spray-deposition within other eroded regions (e.g., regions of less erosion). The partially refurbished sputtering targets may be sputtered after the partial refurbishment without substantive changes in sputtering properties (e.g., sputtering rate) and/or properties of the sputtered films.

  • Patent number: 11317542
Abstract: A compute device for operation in a rack of a data center includes a substrate, a solid state drive array, a fan array, and a plurality of physical resources. The components of the compute device are arranged on the substrate to prevent or reduce shadowing of heat-producing physical resources, such as a processor, by other heat-producing physical resources relative to an airflow generated by the fan array. To do so, ruler solid state drives are used to facilitate positioning of the fan array toward a front edge of the substrate.
