  • Publication number: 20070038682
Abstract: A set of servers takes advantage of the existing data redundancy of a mirrored database to restore page corruptions. The page restore may occur with none of the time and/or administration costs of a restore from backup media and without the data loss associated with repair. Online page restore from a database mirror can be initiated and performed by the computer system automatically upon corruption detection. An entire file or database instead of an individual page or set(s) of pages can be restored. The mechanism can be used both to restore corrupt pages on the principal server from a mirror, or corrupt pages on a mirror from the principal server. Online page restore from a database mirror enables page data recovery without the need to find/load/scan through and apply data and log backups, allowing efficient and potentially automatic data recovery.

  • Publication number: 20060242205
Abstract: Methods and computer readable media for restoring a database. In a method, a backup of a subset of a database is created, where the subset includes a filegroup and database metadata describing the filegroup. The database is then restored using the database subset. In a computer-readable medium, a first data field contains data representing a database subset having at least one of a plurality of filegroups. A second data field contains data representing database metadata that describes the filegroup. In another method, archived database metadata and an archived filegroup that is one of a plurality of filegroups is accessed, and the filegroup is brought online using the database metadata.

  • Publication number: 20060224636
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that facilitate providing page-level database restore functionality upon detection of a corruption event. Updates to a data page in a database can trigger generation of a snapshot of the data page, and an update log can be maintained that stores information related to page updates. Subsequent snapshots can be generated at predetermined intervals and can trigger truncation of a log segment and initiation of a new log segment. Upon detection of page corruption, a most-recent uncorrupt snapshot of the corrupt page can be identified, copied to the location of the corrupt page in the database, and modified according to the log segment associated with the uncorrupt snapshot to make the page current as of the corrupting event, all of which can be performed to restore the database without having to take the database offline.

  • Publication number: 20060203725
Abstract: A Fibre Channel switch is presented that tracks the congestion status of destination ports in an XOFF mask at each input. A mapping is maintained between virtual channels on an ISL and the destination ports to allow changes in the XOFF mask to trigger a primitive to an upstream port that provides virtual channel flow control. The XOFF mask is also used to avoid sending frames to a congested port. Instead, these frames are stored on a single deferred queue and later processed in a manner designed to maintain frame ordering. A routing system is provided that applies multiple routing rules in parallel to perform line speed routing. The preferred switch fabric is cell based, with techniques used to manage path maintenance for variable length frames and to adapt to varying transmission rates in the system. Finally, the switch allows data and microprocessor communication to share the same crossbar network.

  • Publication number: 20060111773
Abstract: A prosthetic venous valve includes a frame and leaflets. The frame includes: (i) a generally hollow base disposed at a blood inflow end; (ii) a plurality of struts connected with the base and extending generally parallel to a direction of forward flow of blood from the generally hollow base to a blood outflow end; and (iii) inwardly oriented flanges disposed at the blood outflow ends of the struts. The leaflets are disposed in gaps between the struts and are supported by the frame. The leaflets are arranged to close into the vein lumen to substantially seal against backflow of blood from the blood outflow end to the blood inflow end. The inwardly oriented flanges of the struts enhance the sealing.

  • Publication number: 20060071640
Abstract: A power supply with a high voltage current regulated output wherein input devices are gated ON and OFF to regulate the output current. The output current is coupled through a current limiting inductor to a high voltage fast electronic switch (E-switch) that turns ON and OFF much faster than the power supply can shut down. The electronic switch is bypassed with a resistor network that is sized to dissipate slightly in excess of the full power rating of the power supply during a shut-down cycle. The electronic switch is normally gated ON providing a low impedance path for current charging the capacitor bank. When a short circuit condition is sensed, the E-switch is turned OFF and the resistor network limits the short circuit current, limits the voltage across the E-switch, and dissipates any energy stored in the inductor and the power supply circuitry during power supply shut-down.

  • Publication number: 20060038325
Abstract: A thermoforming methodology for laminated thermoplastic sheets which preserves the class “A” finish and high gloss thereof. A thermoformer has a vacuum box component which includes a mold, and a pressure box component which is selectively sealable in relation to the vacuum box component. A heated laminated thermoplastic sheet is placed in the thermoformer, the class “A” side thereof facing away from the mold, and the thermoformer sealed. Vacuum is applied to the vacuum box component and simultaneously air pressure is applied to the pressure box component, including application of chilled compressed air, resulting in forming of the sheet on the mold and controlled cooling of the sheet which preserves its class “A” finish and high gloss.

  • Publication number: 20060013135
Abstract: A flow control mechanism is presented that provides XON/XOFF flow control for each virtual channel in an interswitch link. The entire interswitch link remains under standard Fibre Channel BB_Credit flow control. Each virtual channel in the interswitch link can submit data to multiple ports in the downstream switch. The XOFF status of each port in the downstream switch is maintained in an XOFF mask. A mapping between each virtual channel and all ports accessible through the virtual channel is then applied to the XOFF mask, which determines the XOFF status of each virtual channel. An XOFF signal is generated by the downstream switch on a change in XOFF status for any virtual channel. The preferred XOFF signal is one or more Fibre Channel primitive containing the status for every virtual channel. Each primitive sends duplicate XOFF information, and always ends in negative running disparity.

  • Publication number: 20050181156
Abstract: Oxygen-scavenging polymers and packaging for holding oxygen-sensitive products. A heat treatment process has been found to significantly increase the oxygen-scavenging performance of the polymer. The enhanced scavenging polymer can be effectively incorporated into various packaging, including transparent multilayer containers for beer and juice. In one embodiment, a multilayer package made from the scavenger provides an actual reduction in oxygen content of a contents of the package, over a long period of time (e.g., 24 weeks). The package can be stored unfilled for an extended period (without significant loss of scavenging capability) and will scavenge substantially immediately upon filling with a liquid product. The package may incorporate a relatively low weight percentage of the scavenger, thus providing enhanced scavenging in a cost-effective manner.

  • Publication number: 20050088970
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for temporarily deferring transmission of frames to a destination in a data switch. When a request for transmission of a frame to the destination port is received, the congestion status of that destination is determined. If the destination is congested, the frame is stored in a deferred queue. When the status of a destination changes from congested to non-congested, the deferred queue is examined to see if any deferred frames can now be forwarded to their destination. While examining the deferred queue, incoming frames are placed on a backup queue. When the deferred queue is fully analyzed, the backup queue is emptied by either sending those frames to their destination or storing the frames in the deferred queue. While examining the deferred queue, the congested states of the destinations are not allowed to change from congested to non-congested.

  • Publication number: 20050088969
Abstract: A congestion notification mechanism provides a congestion status for all destinations in a switch at each ingress port. Data is stored in a memory subsystem queue associated with the destination port at the ingress side of the crossbar. A cell credit manager tracks the amount of data in this memory subsystem for each destination. If the count for any destination exceeds a threshold, the credit manager sends an XOFF signal to the XOFF masks. A lookup table in the XOFF masks maintains the status for every switch destination based on the XOFF signals. An XON history register receives the XOFF signals to allow queuing procedures that do not allow a status change to XON during certain states. Flow control signals directly from the memory subsystem are allowed to flow to each XOFF mask, where they are combined with the lookup table status to provide a congestion status for every destination.
