Publication number: 20120293840Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for rendering published documents tamper evident. Embodiments render classes of documents tamper evident with cryptographic level security or detect tampering, where such security was previously unavailable, for example, documents printed using common printers without special paper or ink. Embodiments enable proving the date of document content without the need for expensive third party archival, including documents held, since their creation, entirely in secrecy or in untrustworthy environments, such as on easily-altered, publicly-accessible internet sites. Embodiments can extend, by many years, the useful life of currently-trusted integrity verification algorithms, such as hash functions, even when applied to binary executable files. Embodiments can efficiently identify whether multiple document versions are substantially similar, even if they are not identical, thus potentially reducing storage space requirements.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2012Publication date: November 22, 2012Inventor: Kelce Steven Wilson

Publication number: 20120247299Abstract: Operating a power saw between a pair of parallel guide rails, which engage opposing sides of saw base plate to constrain the motion of the saw to a straight path, allows for precise cuts. A set of two or more fences allows for multiple cutting options. In some embodiments, non-parallel fences coupled to the guide rails allow for precise cuts at more than just a single angle. In some embodiments, two fences may engage opposing sides of the object to be cut simultaneously, holding the object more securely with respect to the guide rails than would a single fence. A possible clamping force holding the two fences against the object allows the miter guide to remain fixed relative to the object so that the user's hand may be freed for another task, such as holding the saw with both hands.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2012Publication date: October 4, 2012Inventor: Kelce Steven Wilson

Publication number: 20120240502Abstract: A vinyl-based floor tile is disclosed for constructing a floating and groutable floor covering. The vinyl-based floor tile has a decorative upper surface and a lower surface for support the floor tile. On one edge of the floor tile is a male coupling member having a vertical insert and an opposing edge has a female coupling member that has two or more grooves for accepting the vertical insert of a male coupling member of an adjacent floor tile. The grooves determine the width of a grouting channel that is formed between the edges of the adjacent tiles and a grout-accepting surface on the top surface of either the male or female coupling member. The decorative upper surface of the tile can have a removable protective layer that protects the vinyl tile during the installation and grouting process.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2011Publication date: September 27, 2012Inventors: Steven Wilson, Frank Yoo

Publication number: 20120021800Abstract: A radiation power level control scheme for a wireless user equipment (UE) device. In one embodiment, a power data history associated with the wireless UE device is maintained, the power data history comprising data tracked over a time window (e.g., a sliding time window) relative to one or more variables on a per transmission event basis. A component of the UE device is configured to determine a time-average transmission power level. Another component is configured to compare the time-average transmission power level with a first time-averaged transmission power limit threshold, the first time-averaged transmission power limit threshold having a value that depends on a transmission power data history for the UE device. A still further component is provided, operable responsive to the average transmission power level meeting or exceeding the first time-averaged transmission power limit threshold, that is configured to reduce a transmission power level of the UE device.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 20, 2010Publication date: January 26, 2012Applicant: RESEARCH IN MOTION LIMITEDInventors: Kelce Steven Wilson, Shirook M. Patent number: 7955501Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for filtering liquid using a filter platform that is not rigidly affixed to a container containing the liquid to be filtered. The platform may be buoyant so that as liquid flows from one side of the platform, through a filter, and then to the other side of the platform, the platform may move, thus reducing the volume of a container or portion of a container that holds the unfiltered liquid. Alternatively, the platform may be heavier than the liquid to be filtered, may be either set in place on a support structure or else set on top of unfiltered liquid and allowed to sink downward as liquid is filtered. The system may further comprise a flexible membrane that allows two sections of liquid to be separated, even while the platform is moveable.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2010Date of Patent: June 7, 2011Inventor: Kelce Steven Wilson

Patent number: 7938958Abstract: A de-aeration system for a fuel system, the fuel system having a housing for containing a fuel filter element, a fuel inlet and a fuel outlet is disclosed. The de-aeration system includes a de-aeration valve having a valve inlet in a lower face of the valve for connection to the housing for purging the air trapped in the housing. The de-aeration valve also includes a valve outlet in an upper face of the valve and a ball. The ball is configured to lift between the lower face and the upper face in response to an air pressure differential acting on the ball. This opens the valve to purge air trapped in the housing. The ball is further configured to close the valve by sealing against the valve outlet in the upper face in response to a pressure differential across the ball created by unfiltered fuel entering the valve.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2009Date of Patent: May 10, 2011Assignee: Parker Hannifin (UK) LimitedInventors: Phil Core, James Ashton, Steven Wilson

Publication number: 20100251870Abstract: Operating a power saw between a pair of parallel guide rails, which engage opposing sides of saw base plate to constrain the motion of the saw to a straight path, allows for precise cuts.
