  • Publication number: 20150215758
Abstract: A deterrent device is disclosed. At the deterrent device, a first wireless communications link is established with a mobile computing device. The deterrent device is not the mobile computing device and the mobile computing device is not included in the deterrent device. At the deterrent device, a user indication to initiate a deterrent is received. An image capture device component of the deterrent device is activated to capture at least one image in response to the user indication to initiate the deterrent. At least the image is transferred, via the first wireless communications link, from the deterrent device to the mobile computing device. The mobile computing device establishes a connection via a second communication link to at least an emergency contact and at least transmits the image and user information to the emergency contact via the second communication link. In response to the user indication to initiate the deterrent, a releasing of the deterrent from the deterrent device is initiated.

  • Patent number: 9070954
Abstract: The present invention pertains to electrochemical cells which comprise (a) an anode; (b) a cathode; (c) a solid porous separator, such as a polyolefin, xerogel, or inorganic oxide separator; and (d) a nonaqueous electrolyte, wherein the separator comprises a porous membrane having a microporous coating comprising polymer particles which have not coalesced to form a continuous film. This microporous coating on the separator acts as a safety shutdown layer that rapidly increases the internal resistivity and shuts the cell down upon heating to an elevated temperature, such as 110° C. Also provided are methods for increasing the safety of an electrochemical cell by utilizing such separators with a safety shutdown layer.

  • Publication number: 20150026914
Abstract: A carpet cleaning system having a single, hand-held wand and mounted on it, a pre-spray canister, a venturi tee fluidly connected thereto, and valves for directing pressurized hot water into first and/or second flow streams. Downstream of a flow-splitting tee, a single valve regulates the first flow stream; and a pair of valves, sandwiching the venturi tee, regulate the second flow stream. This pair also controls cleaning solution discharging from the pre-spray canister via the venturi tee. Positioned at the operator's fingertips are the single valve's handle and a bar for moving the paired valves' handles simultaneously, thus allowing one to momentarily turn on or off either flow stream or adjust a mix thereof. Importantly, without interrupting any steam cleaning then in progress, one can immediately reapply the cleaning solution to a stain and, as a consequence, substantially upgrade the quality of the finished carpet cleaning job.

  • Patent number: 8787161
Abstract: A method of operating a data network may include establishing a data path through the data network between a routing gateway and service provider equipment providing a data service. Moreover, the data service may be provided for use at the routing gateway over the data path during a data session. A request may be received from the service provider equipment where the request defines a data flow characteristic for the data path between the routing gateway and the service provider equipment providing the data service. The data flow characteristic may then be transmitted to a network element along the data path between the routing gateway and the service provider equipment. A request from service provider equipment can include an allowed bandwidth or prioritization. Related methods, data networks, data service providers, routing gateways, and computer program products are also discussed.
