  • Publication number: 20070138876
Abstract: An electrical machine is described, having a stationary main element as stator and a rotating main element as rotor, of which one main element having a magnetic yoke and poles, of a predefined number of poles, projecting radially from the former, is made of SMC material and carries a pole winding on each pole. To achieve cost-effective manufacturing of the main element, the main element is assembled from at least two modules that are axially adjacent, rigidly connected to one another, and produced from SMC material, each module having a yoke part, closed in on itself, of the magnetic yoke having an equal number of divisions of poles attached thereto in one piece, which corresponds to a fraction of the number of poles determined by the number of modules.

  • Patent number: 7233090
Abstract: An electrical machine, in particular a brushless synchronous motor has a stator (14) and a rotor (12) with salient poles (18) disposed distributed over its circumference, each of which poles has an enclosed permanent magnet (11) and a pole shoe (19) that extends radially outward from the permanent magnet and defines an air gap (13) between the stator (14) and rotor (12). In order to achieve a low cogging torque and a low torque undulation, the pole shoes (19) are embodied as magnetically anisotropic, with a preferred direction of the greater magnetic conductivity extending parallel to the radial salient pole axis.

  • Patent number: 7197962
Abstract: An object gripping device for removing and installing bulbs and other objects. The device has around its circumference three or more vertical gripping posts. The device uses a sun gear and planetary gears to transmit the user's twisting motion to a gripping force applied equally around the object's circumference. Furthermore, the gearing ratio can be adjusted to create more or less leverage or gripping force applied to the bulb or object. The device could also be applied to gripping any object that is semi-cylindrical in shape. For instance, a robot can use the invented gear system to pick up or grip objects in a factory, laboratory, hospital, space exploration or home setting. Instead of a handle used to rotate the sun gear a drive shaft can be attached. An electric motor, a gas or diesel engine, a hydraulic power pack can rotate the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 7197087
Abstract: A system and method for compensating for the time delay between the in-phase I and the quadrature Q paths of a digitally modulated transmitter incorporating an analog quadrature modulator is disclosed. The time delay between the in-phase I and the quadrature Q paths is computed and used to calibrate a set of interpolation filters in the forward path that compensate for this delay, reducing the frequency dependent degradation in performance of the analog quadrature modulator. The disclosed system and method provides improved compensation of gain, phase and DC offsets in the analog quadrature modulator over a broader bandwidth. Fractional delay interpolation filters may be used to estimate the delay between the in-phase and quadrature paths. This eliminates the need for a factory calibration procedure, speeding up manufacture and reducing costs.

  • Patent number: 7185436
Abstract: A peeler apparatus is provided having an ergonomic handle and a blade that can be rotated relative to the handle to accommodate different peeling styles. The blade can be rotated in order to position the blade in a variety of positions relative to the handle. Such positions include perpendicular, parallel left, parallel right, 45 degree left, and 45 degree right positions. Variations of the peeler can be provided which enable rotations of 180 degrees, 360 degrees, and/or other angles as desired. A user-operable knob cooperatively engaged with a yoke permits the yoke and a blade secured to the yoke to rotate relative to the handle in response to rotation of the knob. A peeler having a blade fixed at approximately 45 degrees relative to the handle is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7154631
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for selecting an image size and printing a received image in the selected image size. A computer file including an image is received. A range of sizes for printing the received image is calculated based on a plurality of quality standards in order to maintain a predetermined degree of quality for a printed image. The quality standards may be related to resolution, aspect ratio, number of pixels and orientation. Also, a user may provide a custom print size for printing the received image. If the custom print size is in the calculated range of sizes, the image may printed in the custom size. Alternatively, the image is printed in a size in the range.

  • Patent number: 7131355
Abstract: A lightweight, adjustable wrench comprising of a moveable jaw with a reach that is shortened or lengthened with a strap or a cable. The loose end of the strap or cable is secured to the wrench's shank by a cam lock, or similar locking device. Since the strap or cable is the means for the wrench's jaws adjustment, a quicker and easier fit to the pipe or object to be gripped can be obtained. The wrench is more convenient to adjust, since the means for adjustment are located near the handle of the wrench as opposed to the shank end of present designs. The strap or cable adjustment also allows the wrench's shank and handle to be designed hollow and a larger diameter to reduce weight. The wrench can be made in any proportion for any sized application.

  • Publication number: 20050280305
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved headrest guide assembly. In an embodiment, a headrest is supported by a first rod and a second rod, the first rod being equipped with a series of positioning notches on a first side and a retaining notch on a second side. In operation, the two rods are installed into two channels in the seat, one of the channels being equipped with a headrest guide assembly. The headrest guide assembly includes a button that allows the user to selectively engage the series of positioning notches on the first side of the first rod so that the headrest can be positioned as desired. However, the headrest guide assembly will automatically engage the retaining notch on the second side and thus prevent the headrest from being removed from the seat. To remove the headrest, a tool can be inserted into a notch in the button and the insertion of the tool prevents the headrest guide assembly from engaging the retaining notch on the second side and thus the headrest can be removed.
